Backflipping through reality at ludicrous speeds. What does RB stand for, anyway? | Ko-Fi

It's been a little over a year since Princess Flurry Heart founded the settlement of Winter's Hearth deep in the unclaimed territory of the Frozen North, and in that time she and her subjects have faced many dangers. But whether through grit or sheer equine spirit, they've survived every one of them.

So when the yaks of the Northwestern Tribes decide to declare war on them, it feels like just another Tuesday.

The yaks feel differently.

This story was originally conceived as an entry to Imposing Sovereigns IV, but I didn't end up writing it until several months after the contest closed. You can read the actual entrants to that contest here! The intended prompt was Flurry Heart/Strength.

So methinks Flurry founded Winter's Hearth precisely because she didn't want the Crystal Empire if something happened to her mother. Which is the only way she would ever become ruler unless Cadance retires.

(and the lack of any unhappy thoughts about her family and the empire makes me think that, while not the happiest with the idea, Cadance and Shining fully supported this.)

Flurry's also taken after Fluttershy with her pet Amarok methinks.

Yes, I'm overthinking this. No, I'm not sorry.

Ohmygosjj an arby ficcccc!!!!

Wait, what? I thought this story was all about Flurry Heart and the Yaks. Who’s Arby?

That’d be me. RB, R-B, Ar-By, Arby’s.

Okay- I expected it to be staged, but was NOT expecting the Amarok to be Flurry's pet. Also, just got to say, I'm loving the way Flurry handled the situation, and it was well-written enough to get an upvote from me.

"If they want war, we will give them war" and, honestly, I think they gone too far.

omg it's arbys

I was rooting for the yaks smh. Nice story!

Why does every single fanfic of Flurry depict her as either
-a rebellious 'its not a phase mom' teenager
-a clever diplomat and wartime strategist

I mean, who decided that was her? It fits, but...where did it come from?

1. Because "It's not a phase, Mom!" Flurry is just too damn funny not to write.

2. Look at Flurry's family. While they may not have the full experiences of their elders, Cadance and Twilight are no slouches when it comes to diplomacy, and Flurry would learn how to be both clever and yet, gentle when dealing with other races and nations.

Now, if it comes down to the other side being too stubborn for its own good and needs to be shown just why messing with an alicorn is very bad for your health, who better to ask than Celestia and Luna? They've been at this longer than anypony else and would know how to deal with leaders being too stuck up and proud for their own good.

I could not agree with you more, I love it

Hahaha i was hoping it was tame ponys love understanding and working with new creatures in this era and its the best.
Imagine them playing fetch, rips tree out of ground and chucks it a good few miles across tundra lol

A shame this missed the deadline. Delightful work all around, and a fine showing from Flurry. (Also, Johannes has a promising future in politics.) Thank you for this. Also, have a card:

Flurry’s Amarok 2GG
Snow Creature — Wolf
Trample
3SS: Monstrosity 3. (If this creature isn’t monstrous, put three +1/+1 counters on it and it becomes monstrous. S can be paid with one mana from a snow source.)
When Flurry’s Amarok becomes monstrous, it deals damage equal to its power to up to one target creature an opponent controls.
4/4

Very good! I was correct in thinking that it was staged!:pinkiehappy: I kinda thought that the daughter of the Princess of Love would be more likely to have befriended that Amorok than kicked its flank... though I'm sure she could've done that, too! I enjoyed this and am intrigued with your little universe vignette. I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting an expansion.

Thankyou, I enjoyed that :)

That's an imposing Flurry Heart, all right! Guile, diplomacy and butt-kicking ability.

"I brought Johannes as advisor because Johannes familiar with ponies, but I not want fly in my ear telling me I am wrong!"

That's actually a very reliable way to identify a comic book villain:
He ignores the advice of his one adviser who actually understand what's going on.

Good story!
I enjoyed reading it.
