Eh, the premise of a bride getting knocked up right before the ceremony by a family member was an idea I had rattling around in my head for some time now. Originally it was going to be Futa-Celestia doing it to Luna, or vice versa. Another possibility was Igneous and Pinkie Pie. But the father daughter dynamic of Starlight and Firelight actually had the most development of any in the show, aside from, perhaps, Bow Hothoof.
But I've already written that.

Originally Firelight was going to just keep buying the groom drinks until he was too drunk to perform on the wedding night. But that's essentially the same vibe. It was meant to be dark humor, but that sort of thing doesn't land well for everyone. I could easily cut it out and not lose anything important. I had no illusions that I was writing Firelight as a not-morally-good character.

Thanks for the story, and congratulations for the 100 (and hoping for many more) Still I can't help feeling for the poor sap that married Starlight (and feel utter loathing towards Firelight and at least some anger towards Starlight herself - seriously, mare, your dad might be a gigantic asshole, but what you are doing to the pony you appear to like enough to marry is not much better better...)
My headcanon is that the poor soul that married Starlight (whoever he is) has first become suspicious and eventually aware of Starlight's and Firelight's activities (this is why he is growing distant - he doesn't find her fat or less attractive due to the growing belly - but he knows that the foal is not his, a constant remainder of their betrayal). He is biding his time, still hoping for Starlight to come clean, so they may try to salvage whatever there is left to salvage of their relationship, or perhaps so they can part ways - while not as friends - but at least not as enemies.
As for Firelight... well, I imagine this won't end well for him should his son-in-law finally snap.
