When the 4 of them are together it's a bit confusing who is who. I wasn't completely sure if Shining changed gender or not.
Also the whole thing of them kind of but not really pretending to not know each other feels very awkward. Like Nightlight would know what happened in Cadance's life. She's his daughter in law and all those things were extremely high profile.

I love the idea but it just feels very awkward.

Well Shining is still referred to as a stallion, and the only change in his appearance was the color of his mane and tail, but I probably should’ve used a different name than his gender swapped version. I did originally, but I didn’t like the name I chose (can’t even remember it now), so I decided on something that would fit more with the nickname of “knight in shining armor”.

Yeah, he would know, but they’re just having fun playing along. Hence Cadance calling all those huge events in her life as “nothing special” and him not even bothering to disagree with her.

You are correct in it being awkward. This is what happens when you spend most of your time on the first fic and end up having to rush the second. 😅
