I'm feeling a bit better now, so here's some thoughts.
So, Thorax huh? That caught me by surprise. I feel like having a changeling ally is going to be highly useful in the eventual future. When Chrysalis makes her big move, James could very well have a friend on the inside helping him out. Perhaps Thorax will give the warning of what's to come when the time is right? Once again James's position as an outsider from Equestria comes in handy, as he isn't instilled with any of the prejudices most ponies are. No one else would have given Thorax a chance if Spike didn't happen to be there, except Gladesong I guess, she was nice.
It wasn't ever exactly hard to figure out to begin with, but this also confirms roughly what it is they want with James, as that endless love source they could feed on forever, details TBA. Of course, they could very well find that well running on empty if they deprive him of those who sustain it, as we have seen. They have too, which no doubt will be taken into account in their plans.
As for some more detailed musings on the last chapter:
Now, his relationship with Celestia was already far beyond what the public would probably tolerate, especially since going on that airship, but now it's on a whole other level of things. Now we're dealing with a second full on "secret relationship" trope, consummated and everything. I really have to wonder whether that's going to blow up in their faces and they have to work something out at some point, as that plot line usually goes. Particularly there's still that standing question of how Nightmare Moon would take it. Last I checked she's still completely unaware of any of these polyamorous happenings, right? Unless she gazed into the wrong dream at some point and hasn't told anyone about it.
James's increasingly deep entanglement with the royal sisters isn't without its benefits, either. He wouldn't generally be one to take advantage of that, but like just now, at this point I think Celestia would give him a pretty hefty benefit of the doubt before convicting him of Treason for something like this, and I don't think the other two ever would. A more corruptible figure would be poised in the position he's in to bathe in the full benefits of living in an absolute triarchy, to the point of just being straight up made king. That standing offer and whatever others arise will continue to exist as a test of character for him for probably the rest of his life.
hmm, discord fate was sad to say the least but now i wonder will Chrysalis, be another one lost or will she be saved, if saved i kind of wonder if she will end up just being a slightly nice changeling that acts how she does normally but alone or with James she ends up acting like she does, with fluffle puff.... is imagining a tiny fluffle puff stuffy now in her chambers that she snuzzles up to after a long day
hmm, how will her fate turn out, i cant wait to see
This story got me through high school. Bad days and nights would be forgotten while reading this took my mind off my troubles. Through good and bad times, this story provided me much entertainment so thank you.

Glad to be of service. I hope you enjoy the rest of the ride and everything else beyond it.
This gets me thinking.
If James is somewhat immune to the whole love draining, does that mean he has somewhat of a perk? Or its a human/religion thing? Plus, does Gladesong have the same feat just like her father? Thorax hasn't consumed some of Fluttershy's love yet, so there is a possible difference.
I'm assuming something like this may happen in the future.
Exo-Skeletons?
