Original Works. It was a good run.

When confronted by a being who claims they know all, within a kingdom built from the corpses of your friends, many would snap. However, when offered a chance to speak, a chance to learn, Twilight simply will try to gain perspective.

Or is that all?

Damn, this was an eerie one. :) Midnight... losing her sanity, and then her common sense. I like the ending, too.

6470544 She's like Vector from Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal...

All the knowledge in the world has little value when there is no one else to share it with...

Extremely well done Jumbled! I'm glad you decided to write it:twilightsmile:

In the end, she was just a lost, lonely 16-year-old girl trying to make sense of a world that seemed to despise her for no clearly-obvious reason and find acceptance. With all the power she could imagine, she still didn't stand a chance against the wit and wisdom of a Supreme Mage, the Avatar of Magic Itself, who was considered sister and equal to the Goddess of the Sun and who had matched wits with and overcome the power of the God of Chaos Himself.

6471033 Actually I though this looked like something straight out of Dr. Who Midnight reminding of the villain the Valeyard.
We could really use a reference to that arc BBC...

I don't get the ending.

6472154 Twilight in the movie never responded to Sunset Shimmer, which is the one change to the timeline she made.

I like the simpleness similar to mythology, a reference to Arabian Knights nice~
These stories allways get me! I take them way to seriously...because in a way they could be real. :derpyderp2:

But thats my problem

Anywho you set up a great Dynamic between Midnight Sparkle and Princess Sparkle. I like the conclusion and it seems to be a trope withen itself that the only way to beat an OMNIPOWERFUL entity...is to trick it. Like Jafar in Disney's Aladdin. :raritywink:

:ajbemused:
I don't even know what to say to you, Midnight!:facehoof:

"What, is the meaning of life?”
Midnight let out a heavy sigh. “Finally, a worthwhile question. Unfortunately, I still know the answer. It is to learn.

ERRR wrong! The purpose of life is to reproduce itself.

Tsk, Midnight, you failure. I expected more from you than:
"I know you're trying to trick me, and it won't work."
"lol skrub u chicken"
"FUCK YOU I'M DOING THIS!"

6471333 That is false. It's not that it has little value when there is no one else to share it with; It's that it has little value when there is no reason to use it.

Knowledge gained from surviving alone on an alien world in isolation can still help you, even if you have no one to share it with. That's useful and very valuable information.

However, knowledge of how to hunt is useless knowledge with no value, to a group that doesn't ever need to use it.

Sharing it doesn't matter, using it does. The Midnight Sparkle in this story wanted to learn everything, but didn't want to use what she learned.

Hey, found this story in the Also Liked section of my fic Back to Square One, and I really liked it!

6489454 Saying the purpose of life is reproduction is basically saying the purpose of life is to live. Not really that great an answer.

6509183 So what, now life has to have a "deeper meaning"? Yes, the point of life is to live. That's why it exists. That's why we live. Is it really that bad?

6510492 Except that's not the point of the question. We knew a long time ago that living things are designed to reproduce. That's clearly not what we wanted out of the question. If there was no such deeper meaning, Midnight would simply have said so, rather than saying it was reproduction, unless she didn't understand philosophy in all her supposed knowledge.

Life has two purposes. To learn, and to reproduce.
