So, this is all the cliches? Cuz, THIS was the first displaced story when I reached the chapter one ending. Or the whole story, in this case. Oh wait, I remember I read stories like that before, but didn't finished them. Well, you at least saved the time for me, thanks buddy. I have time finally to delete a lot of garbage from my "Read It Later" tab.
6153759 Yeah they're all pretty much like this, no matter how hard the author tries to make it seem different. Granted there are some small differences between stories, but for the most part they all follow the same beat.

I think I died and went to heaven, and then died again. I never realized how "similar" all the displaced stories were, you put it into perspective with a realistic and relatable character. Thankies for the good times!

You forgot the part where I trolled the shit out of the story with my Hyper-God-Mode Deus Ex Insert Self coming in and ripping the retarded main character's intestines out through his anus like those kappa are fond of doing.
Then I blew the whole universe of the story up with, I dunno, whichever one of Stan Lee's or Doctor Who's latest universe-destroying weapons strikes my fancy at the moment.
Because it makes just as much sense as everything else happening in the story anyway.
Give it time when it happens... The displaced will be freed of this constraint.
This was incredibly accurate as to the general theme (and often entire plot line) of every single Displaced story. Thank you for laying bare their errors.

I've never read a displaced fic before, but this is hilarious. There needs to be more parody fics.
6153759 Not necessarily. Some of the Displaced has them dressed as a hero or someone neutral. Where they end up depends on the story, some in the past where they are turned to stone due to a misunderstanding or being framed or are just downright evil, others while trying to protect the princesses are turned to stone by the villain they're fighting, while the princesses try to find a way to free their ally but are unable to for 1000 years then the events of MLP pretty much happen. Few of them actually end up in present time for MLP around any of the seasons and aren't turned to stone.
And new ideas are discussed from time to time like what if they appeared in a specific alt. universe like the Lunaverse or Hasbroverse. There's also the rare Displaced of an actual character by a Merchant, only example I know of so far is Dan Phantom from Danny Phantom. Yeah the psychotic evil version of Danny ends up in Equestria after being tricked by the Merchant. Though he got hit by the Elements and didn't get stoned but rather fixed a bit. He had his emotions removed in the series and the Elements restored them or at least the ones he wasn't shown to still have judging by how he acted for a few seconds in the show, causing a conflict within.
Besides some of them are actually pretty good and have a serious story to them, sometimes even dark and tragic at times due to the situation in the story. Gravity of the Situation, The Mighty Warrior of Epicness and And Then There Were 10 Err..67 are all examples of them. Before you decide to delete them all, check some of them to see if any interest you, otherwise you'll miss out on a great story while removing ones you don't like.
Most of this applies far beyond Displaced fics. Hell, some of it applies to the show itself!

This fic is sooooo offensive, but I can't stop loving it.
The most irritating displaced fics are when the princesses stone someone who should be immune. Either due to not having any qualities that the Elements would target or because the character they became is just so powerful. Like Brolly or Megatron.
Besides, the only Displaced story I've read thus far where the character wasn't stoned-on-sight, barring a couple where he appears in the show's time instead of a thousand years prior, is a Trigun Displaced: The Reluctant Gunman. Part of not being stoned may be due to the princesses not yet having the elements (yet somehow already alicorns).
Well, since I actually can and have flatted the pittiful "tough guys" on several occasions...that actually is something I can relate to. Attacking someone, though? Not so much.
... you know, without the Elements, Luna actually defeated Celestia.
Only the princesses were at all dangerous. Just go into the Everfree, get a bunch of manticore venom, and sneak it into all of the water supplies of every settlement, including the palace. Problem solved.
I especially loved the way you changed the personalities of the Mane 6. Except for Rainbow. I see nothing different.

Okay, this deserves a chuckle.
This was about as subtle as a brick to the face, but it gave me some chuckles. Almost every single displaced fic is absolutely terrible, with only a few rare exceptions.
6161212 I mostly agree with this, with one caveat:
The power of the Elements has no quantified upper bounds. For all we know, it invokes the Hand of God. So no, there's no character too powerful to be affected.

6161212 Well there are some that get stoned in the same way as Discord. Powerful enough to teleport into a pocket dimension to escape or any number of ways to avoid them, but then get hit due to underestimating them. Discord both times got hit by the elements because he underestimated them and overestimated himself and so got stoned. Though yeah there's a lot of ambiguity there that never really gets explained...

This is the best summary for most of the displaced fics i've read so far.
There are few precious exceptions to this model, though... the well-made ones, perhaps.
Now all that is needed for the complete set is the friendly equivalent, instead of the villanous take that this story portrays.
