Also, the term 'oedipal' is used to denote sexual attraction to one's opposite-sex parent (i.e. girls attracted to their fathers, boys attracted to their mothers). The Oedipus complex also occurs during the phallic development stage (on humans, that's 3-6 years), and this has a teenage colt. So I'm not entirely sure that the term 'oedipal' is correct...I'm not saying you should change it; it's perfect the way it is. I just wanted to point that out, because I'm pretty obsessive-compulsive about that kind of thing.

And while no, this is not a place for counseling, and no I am not treating it as such, the analogy is that: Expressing your thoughts and emotions in a physical/open form helps some people regulate and/or move past them. (And that is what counseling is about).

Admitting that this is not a place for counseling, when the very point you have stated is entirely in relation to counseling, actually makes the comment irrelevant rather than relevant. If only for its meaning.
