Being a princess looks like sunshine and rainbows from the outside; but for research-obsessed Twilight Sparkle, being a princess sounds scary, and those new wings aren't helping either!

So she does whatever any stressed bookworm would do, decides to seek advice from the best: successful rulers from the past! But she's not here for bookish research, oh no; she wants to see these rulers in action! Twilight decides to start off at the very beginning, with the first recognized ruler of Equestria: Queen Majesty. But once Queen Majesty catches her and forces the truth out of her, Twilight Sparkle will be dragged into a whirlwind adventure through time. She will have to face old foes, new foes, old magic, and the most powerful magic of all: friendship.

Trixie Lulamoon is your average citizen of Ponyville in the land of Ponyland. There she lives with all her friends but especially Minty, her best friend in the whole wide world. So gifted, in fact, that Princess Sunset, the Solar Diarch, personally took notice of her abilities when she applied to attend Princess Sunset's school for the Gifted and Talented. When her pegasus sister, Celestia, hatches a phoenix egg, their entire life is changed.

Now, as Princess Sunset's personal students, the two sisters must figure out why sources of knowledge are disappearing, being stolen, or forcibly taken by dark shadows. Could the weird behaviours of the changelings explain the reason?

The one thing they do know is that something dark and powerful is plotting something in the shadows. And only they can stop this evil.

And why does Princess Sunset insist that the situation is nothing to worry about?

Princess Twilight Sparkle has returned, freed from her one thousand year imprisonment and purified of darkness thanks to Celestia and Luna, the new bearers of the ancient Mantle of the Heavens. Now, Princess Twilight seeks their help to undo the wrongs she inflicted on her sister in ancient times, and free Princess Rainbow Dash from her stellar banishment. Will the two sisters be able to reconcile? Or will old wounds run too deep?

An entry in the Reunions: A Swapped Roles Contest (in which it placed 3rd), set in an AU that sprung up fully formed in my mind under the tentative and slightly generic title of "World of Twilight".

Sunset hasn't received a message from Princess Twilight in a week. When she finally receives one, it's not from Princess Twilight. When she reads it, she finds that it's from her past self.

Knowing this, Sunset sets out on a course to make her past self realize that the mirror was false. That being an alicorn wasn't their destiny. She needed to make her past self understand. Otherwise, everything could go wrong. She doesn't care about the consequences.

However, the ramifications of her somehow being able to talk to her past self is something even worse than she expected...

This is an alternate universe, set in within one of the time altered universes that Starlight created.
