Sometimes it takes a swift, metaphorical kick to the head to realize that what is painfully obvious.

Twilight has always been a tame, bookish pony who preferred the calmness of an afternoon inside with the story of her choice to the chaos of any kind of party or night out. Unfortunately for the violet pony, her new title and appendages have ruined any chance of keeping her life the way it was. Further complicating things, as Twilight struggles to accept her new life and responsibilities, she comes across a chance encounter with a rip in reality. This sends her tumbling into an strange adventure and realization that, maybe, things change for a reason.

The TwiDash Project is a series of vignettes and short stories depicting the budding romance between Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash behind the scenes of season two and onward, taking place during, before, and/or shortly after canon episodes.

Concept is based on the The AppleDash Project by bookplayer. Bookplayer has kindly given her blessing for others to explore the idea with different ships.

Rainbow Dash's dad, Blue Streak, has been lonely and sad ever since Firefly passed away. Rainbow has tried her best to cheer him up, but to no avail. On her latest visit, she finds out that her dad has been seeing someone and is now happier than ever. She couldn't be happier for him, until she found out who it was.

Rainbow Dash was the greatest flier in all of Equestria—or, at least, she was until she lost her wing. Luckily though, she quickly learned that flying wasn't the only thing that could bring her happiness and comfort.

For as long as she can remember, Scootaloo has hated her mother. She hated the mare who left her behind on the Ponyville Orphanage steps without a backwards glance. She hated her mother for leaving her father to suffer a life without either of them. She hated that selfish coward who couldn't stand to look upon her own baby's weak little wings and be proud of the daughter she had foaled, come what may. She hated her for everything, for she was the mare who ran away.

She's the same mare Scootaloo's running to now, the same mare about whom she'll learn the truth surrounding her abandonment.

She's the same mare who never stopped loving her baby.

Princess Celestia, tired of the constant pressure that ruling a nation puts on her, decides to take a day off and let Luna take her responsibilities for a day, something the younger alicorn is more than happy to do. She disguises herself as a pink maned pegasus pony named Sunny Skies and decides to go walking around Canterlot without any supervision. Unfortunately for her, not all parts of Canterlot are as safe as the palace, and she finds herself at the wrong end of a gang of muggers, who decide to kidnap her for a ransom when they see how much money she has on her.

Luna freaks out.

Celestia thinks it's hilarious.

Celestia has been sober for a thousand years, but the temptation to have "just one" glass proves too great. Yet, when that one glass turns into several, it's Twilight who will have to deal with the princesses when they’re drunk off their flanks.
