Average brony obsessing over the main cast with an unhealthy desire to see them in a dark fantasy setting.

Spike had always loved Rarity, from the day he first saw her. There were always reasons why it would not work, why he should just give up his crush and move on. He was too young, he was a dragon, he had never caught her eye the way she caught his. Spike had planned around them all, after all what great romance is complete without a few obstacles? But when Rarity says she will be opening a boutique in Manehattan Spike finds that this is one obstacle too many.

Visitors interrupt Spike past midnight. One's awake; the others are knocked out unconscious. Why they're here: to defeat an evil entity from beyond.

Spike then tells his not-knocked-out visitor something closer to the truth than she would've liked.

Moxie gazed over the stallion in front of her, as the crowd stared at them in turn. Fellow nobles, dignitaries, and her parents had all gathered here, in the balmy mansion of her birth, to witness this occasion. The final words had been said, and they were now officially husband and wife. But she was not happy; this was not her wish.

She ran her hoof down the lock of blue hair entwined in her mane. Her whole life had been decided for her, everything coordinated to the tiniest detail. What she had learnt, how she spent her leisure, who she knew, whose company she enjoyed, whom she had pledged herself to, everything... except the one trip she had taken to Canterlot without the permission of her parents, that is. The glimmering blue strands linger as a testament to her last free action...

(8/24/2020 update - I commissioned new cover art for the story from https://twitter.com/Marstruc ! I've wanted an image like this for a long time and finally got it.)

Applejack has tried everything she can think of to turn things around at her family farm, but every month brings disappointing sales and further expenses. She feels the weight of responsibility for the farm and its imminent failure bearing down on her harder every day, and every failed attempt to fix things drives her deeper into depression.

Old habits kick in, and friends' searching questions are deflected, sidestepped, and eventually even answered with outright lies.

Sweet Apple Acres, the Apple family, and even the Elements of Harmony are all in greater danger than all but one mare knows, or will admit.

(Approved by Twilight's Library once upon a time.)

Flitter doesn't like most ponies. There's hardly anything in the world Flitter likes, very few which she can even remotely tolerate, and only a couple which she truly loves. Fluttershy is not in the last two categories. Flitter sees Fluttershy as weak, and weakness disgusts her.

But when you're trying to help someone you love, you'll look for help in a lot of places -- including the cottage of the weakest pony in the world.

And for those willing to listen past their pain, it might be the place where they start to learn what true strength is.

(This story takes place about five moons before Triptych and well after On The Application...)

Being a god's friend comes with certain benefits. Being a god's only friend comes with massive cost.

This story is the unholy spawn of my imagination, a TV Tropes Fridge Horror entry, and "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" by Harlan Ellison. Rated "Teen" to be on the safe side. Criticism is welcomed.

Calligraphy, a unicorn scholar, is informed of a strange book in an ancient language. He and his colleagues embark on a quest to discover its secrets... secrets that are buried perplexingly deep.

Expanded from my finalist entry for the 5th Quills and Sofas Speedwriting Contest, for the prompt "We Tried".

Special thanks to Petrichord, FloydienSlip, Syke Jr and Lofty Withers for giving it a good look and some proofreading/suggestions on the first draft.

One night at a get-together with her friends, Applejack learns that not only do her friends find her brother attractive, they've already got dibs on who will try to court the stallion. If they fail, the next mare in line will take her place. With the challenge set, will any of her friends succeed in seducing the stallion? Not if Applejack has anything to say about it!

With a special thanks to The Abyss for being my drinking buddy, editor, proof reader, and whatever else I'm sure he did when I was too intoxicated.

When Equestria is commandeered by unknown assailants, the Crystal Empire stands alone as a bastion of defiance. It's up to Twilight and friends to pick up the pieces, hold the front lines, and take back what they hold so dearly, before the Empire is taken too. And with almost all ponies thrust into a new way of life and suddenly unable to communicate, is it even possible to accomplish?

Time is ticking.

Written originally as a 1000-word entry in GaPJaxie's third Quills and Sofas Speedwriting Competition, where it won fourth.

Thanks to Lofty Withers for editing.
