Octavia and I finally went out on a date.

To say things went wrong is a bit of an understatement, and now we have no choice but to work together on a new song for a charity concert that only exists to get ourselves out of trouble.

Damn, though, do we have something special planned for Equestria and the Princesses.

We're going down in the history books tonight, baby!

I laid awake, staring at reflected light from the window on my ceiling.  Tomorrow was going to be important, I knew I should try to sleep, but it was being difficult.  On the other side of the upper floor she slept, in that room for the last time. It was never going to happen, but I worried that my breathing, maybe even my heartbeat, would wake her.

I spent the whole time thinking, about our past together, the good times, the fights, everything we said we would do together.  I remembered it all, and one by one, let it go. It didn’t matter anymore, none of it. Tomorrow, Vinyl Scratch was going to leave, and I would never see her again.

Story is canon only up to the end of Season 4. This story also uses the original fanon last name for Octavia, because I like it better.

In the shadow of Nightmare Moon's rule, the ponies of Equestria live in uneasy peace. Vinyl Scratch refuses to accept the new status quo, making seditious films in secret out of a hidden basement below the streets of Manehattan.

Octavia, meanwhile, busies herself with running a successful nightclub, finding audiences for illicit screenings of Vinyl's films, and preparing for the day when they draw the wrong kind of attention.

Vinyl might be willing to die for her art, but Octavia refuses to let that happen.

It's a quiet walk home for two mares after their individual nights of music and noise. All they plan to do is go home and sleep. Little do they know, they will unexpectedly run into each other and have an interesting talk between old friends. Octavia is a polite mare on her way up to fame as a cellist. She was brought up in a strict manner in order to be the perfect member of a perfect family. It was an annoyance at times, and she felt trapped. Of course, Octavia rebelled against it; her family knew what was best and what kind of pony wouldn't want to be perfect?

One day, she meets a homeless mare named Vinyl Scratch and immediately takes her in and asks her to be her servant. Vinyl opens Octavia's eyes, telling her that she's capable of making her own decisions, and that her family simply needed to accept her.

Bon Bon just told Lyra about her former identity as Sweetie Drops. Before the wedding began, Lyra seemed to be okay with it, but Bon Bon knew her marefriend better than that. She had hurt Lyra, and she had a lot of explaining to do once they got home.

Now she has to prepare to tell her marefriend the rest of the story as she faces the fear that Lyra may never forgive her.

Yep, it’s another “what happened after the events of ‘Slice of Life’” tale. I wrote this to bring that episode into alignment with my Lyra and Bon Bon Series. If you haven’t read My True Self, then this story isn’t going to mean anything to you.

Vinyl and Octavia need to hug for eight hours – or the building explodes.
