When Twilight Sparkle slipped beneath the covers last night, everything had been fine. She had friends whom she loved, a teacher she adored, and a bright future ahead of her. But when she woke up, her blankets and quilts had been replaced by hospital gowns and padded restraints.

Everything is wrong and nothing makes sense; even her friends have changed. The doctors keep telling her that she is sick, that none of it was real and that it was all in her head. Yet she remembers a life far beyond the hospital walls. She couldn't have made it all up on her own. They must be lying… right?

Lyra may be a musician at heart, but that doesn't mean that she can't try other hobbies, right? If only she could find a hobby that doesn't accidentally bring about the utter destruction of Equestria...

When she attempts a summoning spell that goes horribly awry, Lyra manages to break Discord free from his stone prison. The ensuing snowball of unfortunate events leaves her imbued with the power of chaos at her hooftips.

Whatever friendly, loving creatures they were before the Day of Darkness, something changed them. Something created these insane creatures, and nothing, not even Twilight, can stop them. All Twilight can do is live — live to fight another day.
