After tiring of Twilight's hostile attitude, Discord decides to "help" the Elements of Harmony by bringing in an alternate version of each of them. These duplicates from various worlds aren't told anything about each other, which is good. The last thing Equestria needs is these monsters working together.

Amethyst "Sparkler" Star was perfectly content in being an average pony in a not-so-average family. That all changed the day she encountered a mysterious metal disc which fell from the sky. Now, in order to protect her family, her friends, and all of Equestria from a resurgent menace, Amethyst must embrace a new destiny. She must cease to be normal, and instead metamorphose into something . . . "beyond the norm."

When asked why she delves into the most ancient and treacherous temples in known and unknown Equestria, Daring's most likely response is a shrug and a casual, "Eh. It's a living."

At some points, however, the most petrifying ventures have the potential to be those merely within the complex ruins of the inner city. This is one of those ventures. Daring Do, with her heaviest load of cold hard cash strapped firmly to her back, must walk through the cold hard streets of Manehattan... at night.

Equestria. A nation emerging from a brutal war. 13 Districts of the land previously stood together, hoof in hoof, and rose up against the Capitol that had ruled in tyranny for so long. On fought the Earth Ponies, the Pegasi, the Unicorns, and the Alicorns. But one District was destroyed, and the Alicorns were no more, leaving the remaining districts to mourn their losses, and face the Capitol. Then, during the darkest hour, a truce was offered, and a treaty was signed.

"The races of Equestria chose to rise against the Capitol that had cared for them. In penance for their uprising, each district shall offer up a Stallion and a Mare between the ages of 12 and 18 at a public "reaping". These tributes shall be delivered to the custody of the Capitol. And then transferred to a public arena, where they will fight to the death until a lone victor remains. Henceforth and forevermore this pageant shall be known as The Equestria Games."

The original Hunger Games trilogy takes place at the time of the 74th games. This story goes all the way back, back to the time of an Equestria fresh out of a horrific war. The peace treaty has been signed, and the games set to go ahead. The tributes involved face a daunting task: to compete in a brutal fight to the death in the very first Equestria Games.

It's been five years since Daring Do last faced Ahuizotl. She thought he was dead. She'd seen him die. So why is it that when she comes home one day a familiar gold and black envelope waits for her in her study? It seems her old foe is alive and kicking, and he's invited her to one last face off. It's time for one last hunt to decide just who is the hunter and who is the hunted.

Discord has been defeated, and Twilight and her friends are eager to get back into the swing of everyday life. Shortly after the end of the victory ceremony in Canterlot, Celestia asks a favour of Twilight, to put Discord back where he belongs, and the ever-faithful student accepts.

By noon of the next day, however, Twilight has both a startling revelation, and a terrible new secret to keep. Otherwise, the last thing she sees may in fact be the statue garden.
