The day after the Friendship Festival, Fizzlepop Berrytwist, preferably known as Commander Tempest Shadow and previously Second-In-Command to the dreaded Storm King, awakens to realize she has three problems:

Princess Celestia has been planning for this day for years: the return of Nightmare Moon, the restoration of the Elements of Harmony, and the ushering of Equestria into a new age of friendship and love. Now that it's finally arrived, all she has to do is wait for Twilight to get to Ponyville, make some friends, hunt down the Elements, and save the...

Oh. Oh, this could be bad. And more importantly, it's gonna need some hooves-on interference from Celestia to get her master plan back on track. But it'll probably all work out in the end. After all, how big a deal could one party be?

Unfortunately for her, (Or perhaps fortunately depending on your perspective of things) her student isn't quite so keen on the code. Restrictive, she calls it. Marooned on a world on the Outer Rim (Totally not her fault, negotiations just went sour, after all!) and in the midst of the Clone Wars and with perhaps very little chance at being found, Twilight Sparkle begins to wonder if the Code's entirely correct in it's laws...

After the debacle of the Storm King's short-lived invasion and the fall of Canterlot, the former attacker, Fizzlepop Berrytwist (Commander Tempest Shadow), muses that the princesses' ability to fight was sorely lacking. Considering that she pretty much took them all down in seconds.

In order to prevent such an abysmal display in the future she has, through a few contacts around Princess Twilight, recruited the aid of a combat master who should be able to teach four princesses avoid such embarrassments in the future...

...Or kill them trying.

Applejack had always felt secure in her friendships, with the Elements of Harmony tying them together like family. But when the Elements are gone, she can't help but feel her friendships slipping. In this troubling time, one of those she thought she was losing comes to prove just how wrong she is.
