Sunset doesn't know what she expected from the snap decision to go back to the town where she was born. It certainly wasn't this.

People left and right knowing her name.

Somebody pretending to be somebody pretending to be her.

The apparent existence of a world of magic and unicorns.

And in the middle of everything, a girl who looks like her, sounds like her, and has stirred up a whole mess of trouble and drama just waiting for anyone who happens to be named "Sunset Shimmer".

This is an Anon-a-Miss story, which means that it takes the 2014 comic My Little Pony: Equestria Girls Holiday Special as it's jumping off point. As is generally the case, if I write this properly it should be self-contained and thus completely accessible to people who have never read laid eyes on the comic.

The idea behind this story is that the point of divergence from the comic is human-Sunset's arrival, and that is the whole of what has changed from the original premise. As a result you won't see many of the the things that have become common in the genre as a result of the influence of Dainn's version (the sirens showing up, things escalating severely, Gilda, so forth.)

Anon-A-Miss occured before Winter Break, and tore down everything Sunset had built up to prove she had changed. She's the main victim of this deadly online secret teller, and everyone believes she's guilty. Including her so called friends.

It takes her to a point of no return, but at last minute before she jumps, she's saved by an unlikely ally... does she even a right to that word anymore?

Based on the comic Equestria Girls Holiday Speical and will contain spoliers for it.

For the first time since coming to this world, Sunset was to have a happy holiday spending time with her friends. That isn't to be though as a new blog by an, "Anon-A-Miss" turns the whole school against Sunset, including her friends. After the truth is revealed though, Sunset isn't really offered any apologies by anyone other than the real person, or people behind the blog; Applebloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle. Leaving Sugarcube Corner while everyone is talking about what had happened. As memories of the past week plauges her mind, Sunset decides to just give up since all of her hard work trying to prove that she had changed was for nothing if everyone could so easily be turned against her. Will the girls save her and prove that they love her, or will it be too late?

Being a unicorn pony, a high school student, a magical girl that fights with the power of friendship, and an artist, Sunset Shimmer thought she was ready for anything the world could throw at her.

What she never expected was to be called by the principal, saying that her mother was looking for her.

After Twilight and her friends blasted Sunset Shimmer with The Elements of Harmony, they did not expect this side effect. Sunset Shimmer was found unconscious at the bottom of the crater. What’s even more peculiar is that she is now a child. She does not remember anything before her current age, nor why she has scaring on her back.

Twilight now has to unlock the mystery to why the former bully was converted to that age, and why there seems to be painful black veins branching across her back.

Taking place a few days after the Camp Everfee trip, Flash Sentry gets suspicious after he notices that Sunset's been unusually happy and not as cold or distant as she was these past few months. Sunset Shimmer has been trying to prove she’s changed but seemingly no one was willing to put the past in the past except for her friends. These five girls seemed to forgive Sunset for her past “boo-boo’s” but now in the semi-finals of the Battle of the Bands Competition Sunset made a mistake and is reminded once again of Canterlot High’s opinion of her. The irony is she could’ve dealt with that, if not for the lecture from her friends but she could’ve dealt with that as well if there was any reason to believe she did what she did for selfish reasons but there isn’t. Sunset makes a bold move when she asks her friends “what if it had been one of them?” she gets an answer that sends her off and in a time of need someone reaches out a hand to help her but who that hand belongs to could lead to trouble.
