Unsettling dreams are starting to worry Princess Luna. She is positive these dreams hold an ominous portent for all of Equestria, but there is only one stallion who knows for certain the answers she seeks. King Sombra has been imprisoned again in Shadow since his defeat and the shattering of his body, but he is no less cunning and ruthless. And as Luna tries to interrogate him over time, she finds there is a softer side to the unicorn king, one nopony has seen before. But Celestia fears for her younger sister, warning Luna against Sombra's advances. Is the once-tyrant truly starting to court Princess Luna...or is she simply being used as a pawn in his plans to regain power?

Twilight lives a comfortable, expected life with the security of being surrounded by her mentors and friends. As she grows into a model unicorn, a dangerous being takes hold of the volatile Brood and drives them to war, breaking a long period of peace. After years of preparation for a higher order, Twilight is chosen to ascend beyond that of a typical sorcerer in a mysterious plan to counter the impending conflict.

During her dark, trying mission Twilight will discover a caged soul and unknowingly set them free, gradually acquiring an affinity for the darkness as a result. As she struggles within deepening conflict, she must push on and fight for what she believes in. With manipulation, deceit, and betrayal storming around, will she be able to contain herself and protect those she loves, or will she succumb to the creeping darkness and abandon everything she stands for?

Fluttershy takes in a mouse who has recently lost his home, but becomes perturbed by her inability to understand what he says.

Later, Twilight looks in on Fluttershy and the author delivers a terrible lexicographical joke about prolonged exposure to Scottish dialects.

Based on an entry from July's "Best Laid Plans" Writeoff, a poem by Robert Burns, and an author's idle thought about the neverending parade of "Fluttershy Asks Twilight a Question" stories on Fimfiction.

In this trio of short, anthological stories, I'll be telling three different ghost stories. One from the sea, one from the land, and one from the frosty air. All about some of the darker sides of Equestria.

1: The Cepheus - The Equestrian Naval ship receives a mysterious distress signal only to find an abandoned old ship floating in the fog.

2: The Hearse Ride - A group of foals decided to go on a new ride through the Everfree Forest in an old hearse with a cloaked driver and a ragged minstrel singing a rather disturbing song.

3: Psychosis - After spending over two weeks being trapped in a blizzard in the mountains, one of a group of friends is slowly driven mad to the point he would crave for something else.

Twilight Velvet is ready to retire, with her last book due to hit shelves in just a couple of days. Unfortunately, not everypony is as happy with the ending as she is.

Especially not the main character.
