After a long, confusing night at the bar, Vinyl Scratch decides to take the advice of a mysterious mare that tells her to be more like Octavia; the problem is that she takes it the wrong way and decides to perform a personality-swap spell that neither of them can figure out how to undo.

The final story in the Misconception Trilogy.

After the disaster on the Friendship Express, the three involved in the incident go their separate ways, and handle it all differently.

Applejack tries to fix her broken bond with Rarity by reliving her fillyhood, Pinkie Pie plays matchmaker for her two pegasi friends while pursuing her own love interest in her long-time crush, and Spike dreams of an alternate reality which he loves so much he cannot bear to wake up.

Three different stories weave together, and the choice will no longer be a Misconception...but it is not yet Clear...it is now Garbled. The gears of Rarity's mind click together, but what choice will come out?

Twist has schizophrenia. She's convinced she's fine.

The voices in her mind say otherwise.

"She called me ugly, an ugly pony who lives in a mucky old farm! She called mah bow 'horrid' an' mah mane 'yucky,' an'...an' is she right, Applejack? Am Ah...ugly?"

Princess Chroma had the perfect life. Loving friends, a wonderful family, and she had her eye on a stallion from the neighborhood. But that all twisted around when Cloudy Isle appeared. After the events of Misconception, Rarity has decided to reject Applejack, fearing a rocky and confusing relationship, over a "smoother" relationship with Spike. AJ, still desperate for the love of the unicorn she's wanted for so long, decides to make a brave move and call upon the help of the pony who started the entire mess in the first place: Rarity's father, Magnum.

Then, finally, Rarity's decision will be made clear. Right?

I have thrown my life away, and now I'll be the one to pay.

These are the words echoing in a young silver filly's mind as she slowly exits the train to Canterlot and heads to the edge of the city, a sheer cliff-drop of hundreds of feet. Not expecting anypony to be watching, she looks down and releases a deep sigh, taking one hoof-step forward.

I have thrown my life away, and now I'll be the one to pay.

But maybe it'll take one compassionate filly from her life before to show her the way to the light.
