This story is a sequel to Nightshift

An exhausted sleepwalking all-powerful Alicorn walks into a restaurant.

She kind of absolutely buggers the place up a lot.

I appreciate the story being shared around, commented on, liked, enjoyed, all that jazz. :ajsmug:

Why am I the only one who thinks that the Royal Guard should at least have contingency plans for this kind of thing? Or is that not part of basic training?

"Wha' ze fack iz go'en on, Monsieur Joust!"

I love this already.

I have a feeling they tried and utterly failed. And like Joust, they accepted the chaos and pandemonium as a part of life with a strange comfort. Hell, I would like to see Joust complain to the princesses and get some answers there, that'd be a good sequel.

Somewhere in the universe, meanwhile, Discord is cackling while chewing on popcorn.

And the sleepwalking apocalypse has learn to use normal transport, tho i got to say you had me thinking that the new one was about Celestia Luna or Cadance

Pre-Read comment: I just read Nightshift for the first time yesterday, so I'm really looking forward to reading this on my next break.

Twilights definitely in for a horrible morning.

Just read both of these, and I have just one question. Where the Tartarus is Spike during all of this? You have one job, Spike. Just one, Twilight Sparkle Wrangler, but when Equestria needs you most, you're nowhere to be found. Probably sleeping on the job again.

11277045 Doesn't sound like any called them or even had time to call them maybe the gaming room isn't exactly legal and they don't want to call attention to it
11277213 Well keep in mind Spike can't teleport and as an Alicorn where did she go you have all the castle, Canterlot and even Ponyville and everything in between easily as her range

Spike has years and years of experience with Twilight's, um, Twilighting. If he's on point, he should be stopping her before she gets to the point of sleep 'porting away for sugary snacks. Though I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel where Spike and maybe Starlight or Sunset are frantically trying to chase Twi down before she can do too much damage.

As a former (?) sleepwalker myself, I have to say these stories are a blast to read. I think I know what it's like to be on the other side now...

So...did this happen the same night as the first one? Is it all the same sleep-walking trip?

Plottwist! She actually is awake through all of this and only cast an illusion or something like that to make her seem asleep!

Splendid Joust readily believed he had passed from the realm of care.

If he owned a field in which he grew that care, he would insist that it was barren.

My sides :rainbowlaugh:

Twiggly is not going to be happy with the check she cashed this time. Celi would be proud :trollestia:

Yeah as I got older I graduated from sleep walker to sleep kicker. I've had girlfriends/boyfriends literally shove me off the bed, like full tilt shove, because I wouldn't stop jumping and squirming around on the bed. Sometimes, tho, I do sleepwalk still. I'm also a bit of a sleep talker, I'll have full conversations with people I do not remember at all, and then they'll angrily be like "where were you bro we agreed to do X" "Bro i was asleep when we had that convo"

Mirror Equestria sequel maybe? Canterlot High cafeteria better watch out.

---GUARD REVIEW---
CELESTIA: In the most conspiratorial tone you can manage, let her know her cake will be brought to her room shortly. (You have 8min, 32 seconds to locate cake. Emergency cake can be found in kitchens A, and C. Split your shift, and have each guard calmly but quickly acquire cake. The night staff have all been trained in this scenario, and will bring along the Sleepy No Burn Things Tea shortly after.

LUNA: Stage Whisper to your partner nice things about her. How pretty her mane is, is a popular subject. If she seems to be listening, mention you hope to see her when you visit at the end of your shift for turn over. She will head directly there. Please do visit if at all possible, while Alicorns don't remember their nightly patrols, Luna always seems down if she felt like she missed someone didn't visit.

Cadence: Her evening maids are on standby with The Romance Novels. Calmly fetch them, and escort any foals/fillies a minimum of 300yards away,or more if they're talent is hearing based.

Twilight Sparkle: [SEALED BY CAPTAIN SHINING ARMOR PENDING FURTHER REVIEW, AND RESOLVED DISASTER REPORTS. PERTINENT REPORTS 1. 2. 3. 14. 17 and 19 ARE RESOLVED AND MAY NOT BE VIEWED OUTSIDE OF THE ROYAL FAMILY. IF THIS , OR ANY OF THESE DOCUMENTS ARE FOUND IN YOUR POSSESSION YOU WILL RETURN THEM IMMEDIATELY TO THE NEAREST GUARD STATION. DO NOT REPORT ANY FURTHER INCIDENTS OUTSIDE OF EPSILON P, OR L STATUS.]

Compared to Celestia and the others, it seems like you just set up Special Containment Procedures for Twilight xD

11277213
Technically it is Owliscious's (sp?) shift.

Ok... things going on on a small local convenience store are one thing... This IS going to come out
and back to Twilight... I really really want to see what she is going to say ^^;;;

11277045
This is, unquestionably, the contingency plan. They've had a thousand+ years of Princess Celestia doing shit like this. The 'alicorn insurance' is something everyone with a brain already has in their policy, whether they know it or not, if they have a business in central Canterlot.

The contingency plan is pretty much the same you use with wookies. 'Let the alicorn win.' and then clean up later.

- Chessie

Really, it's a miracle the city was still attached to the mountain by the time she was sent to Ponyville in the first place.

Flurry Heart: See Sub-Appendices D through Q for contingencies, theories, and potential teenage counter-rebellions.

11277045
Totally. A sleepwalking alicorn stealing pastries is probably the first thing covered in basic. :trollestia:

I hope there is a separate insurance for it !!!

The fashion-conscious Terminator! laugh laugh !

Her Majesty stared at the wreck that was once a restaurant. Her wreck.

I did this?!” she all but shouted.

Splendid Joust looked back at her. “I’m going to sue the Crown for this.”

“How about we just compensate the damage? No need to bring this court, Mr. Joust,” the Princess calmly tried to negotiate.

But Splendid was having none of it. “With all due respect, Your Majesty, how are you going to compensate for 10000 bits worth of collateral damage, 1000 bits worth of lost bets, and a 2000-bit pastry?”

The Princess could only stare at the wreck. “Oh, dear...”

Delightful read. And this is so going to come and bite Twilight’s flank soon. Would love a sequel dealing with the aftermath.
