He at very least still has power as the hot tub and alexa are shown to be working.
Alexa may not have an internet connection as the alarms still work even without internet but since power is still up it's safe to assume water, internet and sewer will be too.
I've got a good feeling he's going to have a huge freak out once he meets Twilight and to others, especially Princess Celestia.

Would likely have been better to do that uniformly either by making his clothes transform too or by pulling a spiderman where they don't fit but in his new form he doesn't need glasses anymore.
Internet is still connected confirmed.
His cellphone even still works which is harder to explain since he doesn't have any towers in his house but he obviously has wifi and wifi calling is a thing so that could easily be explained without adding in extra explanations for how he is somehow picking up radio signals crossverse too.

The glasses thing was actually an oversight. Thanks for pointing it out, I’ll try to write around it. As for everything else, I have a couple of explanations in mind for later,, but nothing definitive quite yet.

Ok, I have to hand it to you. This is the most grounded and realistic response to a HIE arrival I've read in a very, very, long time. Authors often go the ridiculous rout of panic, and violence, and running into walls, and there is the required 15 chapters where the character cries and whines about missing their mommy, like a shut in with incest issues.
This is really well done. Its funny and realistic, and dam close to what real people would do in this instance.

Thanks for the kind words! A little look into our former human’s current mental state. He woke up, found himself turned into a fictional being, and had a minor freak out. Once he calmed down and determined that this was reality, he promptly threw logic out the window and has since just become annoyed at all the new shit being thrown at him. Plus, like it’s been stated, he’s the adaptable type.
Very good chapter! I find it very funny that the mane six throw away the concept of privacy and spy on the poor guy for God knows how long.

The drinking of alkohol has a long cultural history around the world and can, in a moderated amount, even be beneficial.
Smoking on the other hand may have some ceremonial importance for a few native american tribes, but is otherwise just harmful and idiotic.

I was actually thinking that myself. Now that you’ve pointed it out, I’m going to go edit that to make more sense for when that mini plot point comes up. That little part of the rant was more to show Galen’s exasperation more than anything, but I agree that it wouldn’t make much sense to worry about age restriction if he wouldn’t drink it regardless.

Telling you right now that’s not the case. Galen is still able to contact his mother, who by that logic would be long dead. Not only that but it’s also been stated that Equestria looks a lot more like a cartoon than Earth. It’s more of a trans-universal thing.
