Hmm, the Brazilians have a corvette but I doubt they would part with it, especially with all the BBEGs runnin’ around, But that does mean that they might have a number of 40mm/60 or 40mm/70 Bofors ta spare. And the 40mm Bofors gun is very good. Next step up is a 57mm gun or a 5in gun. Maybe a group up in Pennsylvania could get the armored cruiser up their to work and then they’d have some decently big guns. And if a group got one of th’ old battleships moving and operating then they would have some really good firepower behind them. Texas or one of the Iowas probably. I like the USS Alabama but she’s in concrete so she ain’t movin’ in the near future. Maybe those navy guys could grab the USS Drum. The Drum is in good nuff condition just needin to have the hull patched up and repainted and new zinc plates put on and then she would be pretty seaworthy.
Starlight is having problems because her mind can visualise n dimentional structures far easier in the higher dimentional space available in internal virtualisation, Rather than the 2D map with transformation functions she is having to write down on the surface. Especially given the different materials give rise to phase effects that greatly help generate the higher dimentional functions, either correctly, or wrongly, depending on the errors.
My first thought at seeing the brazilian monster was, aquatic, fast, legs. Climb, climb a lot, it can reach much further than you expect. I wonder where possible psychiatric patient got such as wepaon from though? Museum, Church, Temple etc? And either a lot of work went into cleaning up that Fort, or that Sword, possibly amongst others, enforces the belief of the people in the permanency of the structure and area?
If you want mass, for effort, then weeds are crops that are self seelected and evolcved to make most efficint use of local enviroment? Like water hyacinths in lakes being extractable by the ton per day?
If the Dragon wants fun, what local species or mythological returnee can match him? Cowbra, Quetzalcoatl?
Oops.. forgot about Carnac. in France, 4km linear. whats that thing at Aylesbury, Salmsbury which circles the whole village? But a spinner is always less efficint for a given size than a linear?

Plus given the age of the corvette... I'd write that one off as 'good for a gun battery and generator, but not much else'. I'll tell you, with the arc with USS Georgia and possible ways this particular group of survivors can evolve, I have looked into the American mothball fleets.
In other countries not as prone to mothballing their gear as the US, dusting off museum ships might be viable (at least given that a certain amount of munition can be found, part of the appeal to the Bofors, since it's so prevalent and thus ammo very common*), though American groups gets an advantage because you can find mostly intact OHP frigates and even USS Nassau on ready-notice.
*Let's however remember the Bofors 40 L/60 and L/70 use different cartridges, since the latter is the more modern and powerful variant with much higher chamber pressure.

Err... I'll be honest, even though Ahuizotl was an intelligent creature, there was so little about him I wrote him off as an aberration, not a fully-fledged species. I've been using species found in the series, comics and movies so far, which amounts to roughly two dozen different species returnees can come back as. Plenty enough already, I mean, have you seen many stories featuring centaurs and gargoyles around here?
If I had any more I might be accused of throwing the proverbial kitchen sink.
And that's not counting Earth's own magical creatures, or uplifted species, but then again returnees can't come back as those.
So you ever seen that article on the fossil of a galloping crocodile? Granted in the Cipactli we see in the series is more cartoonish, but ain't that along the same vein?
Depends how you work it out through your mind. When writing that, I was mostly thinking about them being the magical equivalent of particle accelerators, conceived to amplify spells. So it depends on you see it.
Circular? Might cycle the spell matrix for several rotations around the megaliths before releasing the spell.
Or you could go with something like the fact Carnac is built along a lay line and works like a railgun for spells.
Depends really.

I was hoping to use a trick a few years back, for a story, of a circular spell array, but based on Sakharov dynamic compression. Where you have initial spell componants, and a massive build up, slowly, around teh outside, then as teh spell triggers, the engery goes inwards, and as it concentrates, it interacts with the material componants to transmute them into the componants needed for the next stage of the spell. Recursively.
Got the idea from chaotic vortex compression initiated high pressure plasma fusion reactor designs.

True with the shell issues. But I wonder how a Nuclear Silo crew would react to this scenario. With suddenly no one being human and most of the comms down.
blushes Good to be back in the saddle, MM. Always happy to help. If I'm not careful, I might learn something new...
10449152
That's assuming if the whole crew returned at the same time, which is highly unlikely. Most likely is one at a time, in a dead silo.
a completely amazing chapter the details just makes this so good.
10449830
I’m assuming that they all appear at the same time.
10450100
Chances for that would be ridiculously low I'm afraid. The only case where people reappear several at a time is with the vehicle clause.
Works for a sub, not so much for a silo.
Though... A silo not being a vehicle means systems and generators kept running and wearing out after the silo's operators were gone.
There is one colony where I thought about them, but since I hardly focus on America... If anyone's up for taking the colony in Montana, there ought to be a network of silos close by to the ESE.
10450588
Eh, oh well. But I do know this, many of the silos had very simple launch codes. Like 11111111.
one interesting fact the Brazilian imprerial family still live today so having a descendant is not too far fetched far i know they still reside in Minas Gerais.
and hello from Brazil
Starlight has the power and outside perspective to innovate.
Sunburst has the lore to find the similar instances to work from, and what went wrong.
Trixie provides invaluable great and powerfulness.
Good job making it to the hundred chapter can't wait for more of them.
