I prefer to place Arthur during the climatological upheval of approx 580 to 630 AD?
If ship engines were designed to be easy to remove, then either they would be in a Tub Module that could be dropped out the bottom, or the superstructure would just be bolted in place so it could be slid out the way along the deck?
Once all the stress of repairs are done, theres going to be rest, recovery and relationships all over?

Sorry for the tardiness, had a long as shit section of riverine navigation. In the blind. That why the chapter was posted earlier than usual too.
Depends, there was a volcanic-induced ice age 'round 530 too last I checked. The funny thing is... either being referenced as a dark time for the population in any archive that's tied to A Matter of Britain might be why it's sometimes assumed the Arthurian Legends happened much later during the Dark Ages. All in all placing them where I chose puts them just right, between St Patrick's evangelization of Ireland and Clovis bringing the merovingian dynasty to the top.
'xcept they aren't, at least not as far as I know. As far as I know from some (admittedly vague) memories about the Daewoo/Hyundai yards, the engines are put in place and they build that section of the ship around it. If there is any seating, it's just the vibration dampeners/ cushioning but otherwise most aren't supposed to come out.
That it's even possible with Fugro is an exception to the rule. She uses a combination of smaller plants since she's diesel-electric, so it's much easier to move them than, say, Amandine's cathedral engine.
Okay, that's gonna be a bit meta but... usually when I plan out my chapters I tell myself: 'okay, I just looked at the timeline and they need to do this, that and that'. Those are the 'action' scenes where they actually get shit done, and I plan them well in advance.
The R&R though, I file it with the SoL stuff -which is develloped far more spontaneously- and lets me 'fill up' the chapters so they're more or less the same length-wise.
What I mean is... I can't have them all do R&R since shit needs to get done, and I can't fill a chapter with only slice of life scenes. So I just have them rest and get their personnal arcs at differed times, if that makes sense.
