Well that was a quick chapter.
I look at polders more like drainedmoats being used for more growing space. Many easily turned back to moats.
Isnt the biggest problem with Rotterdam, Netherlands, that they have too many dense animal farms and not enough land grwing crops to be able to dispose of the corresponding manure, even as digested sludge, as such, theres not enough land space even fed by high quality fertiliser to generate the crops needed to feeed all those animals?
So either theres a massive wave of escaped animals heading east, or millionsof carcasses clustered in that country causing all sorts of contamination and pollution?
Thats a lot of dragon feed?

I recall saying they went for a Dräger building to get the molds they needed, but I only left it implied that they did.
To be fair, there's a lot more that could have been said about adapting breathing apparatus to Equestrian species like that, and most species (expect maybe dragons with their scales, and gargoyles their faces don't have fur) would need some serious adaptations to get a good seal. Given how just growing a beard can cause a leak with stuff designed for humans, you'd need to be pretty heavy-handed (hooved) when adding extra rubber to keep a tight seal of most species.
And lenghtening the whole device to fit a beak/snout/muzzle too.

Funny thing with the Maasvlakte for dragons and their resilience... there's a 'pond' near it they call the Slufter. It's completely cordoned off because it is, in fact, a dumping ground for contaminated materials. Wonder if dragons could survive in that. Or other industrial wastes like that one.
Well as far as I've researched the Netherlands are one of the places where (mostly to combat space constraints, you're right on mark with that one) they get the best yields per acre in most of their productions, and while being pretty damn efficient at that.
Granted, untended polders might make for some interesting swampy wasteland when left abandoned and might need some civil engineers to ensure the delta works don't just collapse... but the yields alone boosted to further heights by magic means they really don't need to allocate many souls to farming in order to produce what they need.
