Well the cultists are about to attack, the demon followers in Mexico are on the back foot, the demon followers in brazil are about wiped out, and not much is happening in Brittany and Normandy. Things aren‘t totally falling apart but I feel bad news coming soon.
now that is how to kick but.
I think the underestimation comes from earth ponies not having any flashy external magic. Instead, that magic is internal and either enhances the pony’s connection to the earth or said pony’s strength, endurance, and durability. Big Macintosh, for instance, probably has as much magical power as a powerful unicorn or swift flying pegasus; just expressed internally making him incredibly strong compared to other monsters or ponies.
Have to give them something other than "civilization-scale OP food generation" and the useful but lame "harder to kill". Fanon usually links unicorns and aristocracy, but I could see the style with Rockhoof here in a few hundred years go for earth pony knights. Add armor until they say when, take off a few plates, add spikes instead.
And water walk to rain flying is fine, as long as it involved flippy wuxia shenanigans. Otherwise it's unrealistic.
Earth Pony Demigod laying the smackdown, good thing Epic didnt go up against Pinkie class. Using Swift Swim in the rain is bad enough, but using the tree growing the next dimetionover to stand on? Thats just cheating.
Cutting the wires for backup and escape though, thats going to hurt when the ward golems go down enough to let dragon flamethrower to fire through the weak spot, and the shield then contains the fireball long enough for the pyramid wards to fail?
Given the ships going to need so much repairs, start looking into alternatives or rebuild methods that they can make themselves, or theyve got something that can only lastas long as they can salvage complex parts, without moving to a totally new vessel drop or build?

Well the part with food generation isn't quite as useful as it would normally be given that plant growth already is accelerated through abundant magic, and that its a power also found on Centaurs (at least in the way they're represented here, the choice is completely arbitrary on my part).
Though compared to a centaur, you get superior strength in a far more compact body. They're big, but their strength is proportionate to their size, unlike the ponies.
On the part of pony nobility... Given their ties to nature it's likely Earth Pony nobles would always be of a far more rural stock than their unicorn counterparts. As for Rockhoof's impact... he is an Earth Pony sure, but France in this setting gets returnees that are overwhelmingly unicorns and deer, and the former is more likely to have its cultural influence prevail in the long run, no?
Flippy wuxia tho'? You doin' me a confuse 'ere.

Well as I have it in my notes, Belfast would be the colony with the gear to machine parts, and Rhine is the ship that's carrying most of the spare parts due to having the largest cargo capacity in the fleet. Either way, they're probably going to have to make do with what they find in Belem and hope it holds until they reach either. Holes in the deck can be fixed with enough spare metal and a welder. Swiss-cheesed automation electronics? A whole 'nother pair of sleeves.

Was spitballing for back in horseworld on both those points, sorry. And yeah, a lot less 'high court with powdered wigs' and a lot more 'border lord with rushes on the floor and dogs everywhere' for earth pony nobilities.
As for the last, kicking off raindrops is so martial arts movie shenanigans I'm surprised I've not seen it before. He does seem the type to show off a little, too...

That's a given. I expect nothing less.
In all the MLP fanfics I've read, they get underestimated by just about everything they encounter. Much to the under-estimator's expense and pain.
