Looks like everyone pretty much are on the farm, grind and go through resources and equipment lists between dungeons, getting ready for the next lot?
I wonder, given magical realms, what sorts of nasties are found down the bottom of gold and diamond mines, so many miles beneath the surface, especially with them flooding after all this time?
A reflector is all well and good for a static microwave emmiter, but on a ship they might be better with a horizontal nautilus style horn on a turntable, with a sealed front of metal slats and polythene sheet to act as a collimating or focusing lens? One of the more impressive is making a fibreglass and metal tower withthe emmiter buried deep inside and a rotating metal sheet like a lighthouse to rapidly move the beam round etc. they dont have the required numbers of small emmiters to build microwave phaser arrays.
At least so far Rodrigo and Vil can handle what comes their way, but that sword dont half help.. Wonder will teh sword get another upgrade at the tree, key style, be absorbed by the tree, key style, or its already running top quality?
If there lucky wherever they got the guns from might have a few ranging charts that could help them aim and fire the guns.
Otherwise, I don’t know.

I like to think of it both like an ebb and flow cycle to the story with 'exploration/worldbuilding-preparation-combat' as a loose cycle to follow. Sort of a WSU M/O to thoroughly prepare before they do anything.
Well... the way I wrote it there are dwarves in Scandinavia now. Just wait for them to inevitably dig too deep then?
The way I was looking at it was mainly with the american ADS system.
scienceabc.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/The-active-denial-system-main-reflector-sub-relector-aperture-jeep-army-graphic.jpg
The way I see it, can't the reflector be rigged to swivel around the aperture, even if not on a 360° arc? Sure the tech the Institute would use would be a lot more... improvised than what the US armed forces can pull, but the general principle stays the same, no? Of course rotating the reflectors around to direct the beam is lighter and simpler as a system than an enclosed tower, and much simpler to mount on a riverboat.
It's also more vulnerable to obstructions getting inside the system, obviously.
Forgot the part about Elements coming with a regalia once their bearers interact with them, not just the artifact tied to it. Rodrigo just did it backwards of getting his artifact first before being summoned by Concord.

I was going with a grid because at least in optics a lens is half the size of a mirror for a given job, and Fraunhofer lenses in the microwave region are half material and half open gaps. It also makes them a lot easier to make and repair, like in Type 23 Destroyers fibreglass hulls style vessel you could have zone plates on a deck and fire through the hull. Makes Carrier decks more intresting with teh right set ups as well?
But these guys are used to what they have and are in a rush, so using a ring mount for the hotel satelite dish, for offset feed, with a small reflector in the ring so their multiple microwave ovens can be below the dish running through waveguide or power coax from wifi cell phone tower links? Dont know the power used in cell towers, but microwave ovens are standardised and lots around?

Slaves to Armok God of Blood Chapter II: Dwarf Fortress reference?
Then watch out for Urist McWhatever.

Mostly that regardless of the kind of media you're looking at, Dwarfs/Dwarves always seem to dig too deep for some reason. It's achieved trope status actually.
Though I do know of Dwarf Fortress... the tilesets I just never could wrap my head around. Better off reading a Hold's tale of when a single craftsman inevitably goes crazy because he didn't have enough beer, kills three people, crafts a runic relic boot and then awakens an ancient evil as any good dwarf does.
Also, are we talking this Urist? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjHclWPVij0

Urist is the DF community’s generic name for dwarves. Like Urist McStonecutter or Urist McUseless.
And you don’t want to hit the carnival. AKA the DF code name for HELL. With clowns (Demons) and cotton candy (Adamantium) included
Also I have attempted to play DF, Could not figure out how to make the interface work.
