I doubt I will go with that option if I do choose to continue this story. It would most likely be dark but ultimately a 'good' ending.
I felt like this story could have used another chapter, showing how Rarity/Elusive evolves over time. If Rarity ever comes to terms with having changeling powers (and even plays with the angle of Rarity not being sure if she is the original personality or not), or is kept in the dark long-term.

I was tempted to do that as well but I feel like such varied themes need time to grow and mature and to be really become impactful. Squeezing all that into one chapter wouldnt do, even if its a long one.
That was a lot of setup for little payout.
