Fascinating. It's a shame this story's stillborn, because I'd love to see your take on the magic and biology of both crystal ponies and windigos. It's especially interesting that you feel the Heart of Winter was even necessary. I thought the region was still iced over from before Hearth's Warming, and the Empire was actually defying the climatic norm.
In any case, I hope someone takes up this idea, and that you revisit the Crystal Empire at some point.

Sweet hell, this is touching, and it would be a shame and an insult to you, and us your loyal readers, if you leave this as one shot. You have far too much skill and talent to leave this story on this simple note. I do hope to see more out of this as I can see a grand epic expanding this from chapter. I know not of the type of epic, but epic it will be under your hands.

considering the emodiment of chaos can be made calm, there is no reason a windigo cannot.
a) Am I the only one worried about Twilight using too much dark magic at once? I have seen enough "Overlord Sparkle" fics to know how that can end.
b) If windigos are creatures of Hate, doesn´t giving them love kill them?
I thought windigoes fed on hate? Well, maybe that's just one way. If you had decided to continue, I'm sure you would've addressed that at some point.

Sombra had the foal before he was banished for a thousand years.
Windigos are now thought to be extinct.
As the Princess of love, Cadnce had better brace herself because that foals first question is going to be.

Shame that this ended up as a one shot. I could actually see this fitting into the Weed Verse with some modifications on it.
It's a great story. However, it does leave me thinking "it needs more."
