Imperaxum

Gott schützen den Kaiser!

T

On the battlefield, they're a stolid grey wave of humanity. They live with a disturbing lack of wanting to live, and are well known for pessimism, morbidity, and an institutional death wish - if you can even get them to talk, that is.

On the battlefield, they're a loose conglomeration of whatever the Planetary Governors can scrape up. In theory, they defend their planets from external and internal threats, forming the first line of defense for the Imperium of Man. In practice, the only tactical consideration they are in the minds of battlefield commanders is a force to slow down threats with sheer numbers until the Imperial Guard arrives to start the battle.

The Death Korps of Krieg and the Planetary Defense Forces are wildly incompatible, and so are their members. However, when misguided aim lands one human from each in the far north of Equestria, teamwork is the only hope for success.

For Rhia, it's difficult trying to preserve one's life when one's survival partner considers you useless, along with not caring about trying especially hard to survive.

For 57-893, it's annoying when your only company is obsessed with the ridiculous notion of not wanting to 'die for the Emperor'.

A change of outlooks is in order.

And what of the natives?

Death korps of Krieg in the mlp universe. Dis gun be gud.

I like where this going. More, please.

Ah yes the PDF the redshirt army for the redshirt army.

The PDF tried to read this story, but were slaughtered to a man. :pinkiecrazy:
In all seriousness, I've only ever seen two others fics with the Death Korp in Equestria, and none with the PDF. Looking forward to see where this goes.

The Death Korps of Krieg, a group of suicidal men and women hopped up on enough combat stims to cause cardiac explosions. Despite near-total illiteracy among their ranks, they get the job done. They live to die.

Death Korps of Krieg in Equestria? Instant Fave:raritystarry:

Two others? I know one from Reactor but what is the other one?

Speaking of the PDF's uselessness. I can't help but wonder why the PDF of every world doesn't just copy the Cadian's method. Namely by having a required military training for all citizens (for obvious reasons in 40K), that doesn't mean they'd become soldiers, just that they'd know how to fight. The training might even be nothing more than traps, tactics, physical training, etc. for poorer worlds who cannot afford to properly train their whole population.

Anyway, take the absolute best and dump all the funds that can be spared into giving them the best equipment, armor, and weapons and vehicles available and make them the PDF. If the Guard says they want those guys the planet in question can just point out that the Cadians do it this way, so why can't they? I doubt the Guard would be opposed to not having to save that world's ass everytime some pirate gets drunk and comes looting, so they are most likely going to take the best non-PDF soldiers on the planet, leaving the absolute cream-of-the-crop alone.

The galaxy is full of idiots.

3086841 I think they used to do something like you suggested, but then Horus had to go overboard with his daddy issues and a lot of trained PDF or Imperial Army or whatever units turned with him. So now its just not wanting highly trained heretics I guess.

I really want to see more of this soon, I like the PDF (despite what everyone says about them).

So the kreigsman has some soul in that clone body of his.

and now I shall wait another 30 weeks for another update!
all kidding aside I do like this, and its nice to see it come back from its coma

Behold, a chapter!

So what was going on in those 30 weeks, hmmm?
There's no way that your life is more important than my entertainment.

This story is far more important than your life.:ajbemused:

Keep writing or you will be executed.

Stand down. So commands a Spacemarine

I like this, carry on mate.

I never liked Kriegsmans and the whole idea of dying for the Emperor that they, and most of Imperium practices. Think about it, if you die for the Emperor, that that means that your enemy has succeeded, he won, because he killed you. Killing for the Emperor on the other hand, now that's the idea!

4487480

You don't win a war by dying for your country. You win a war by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his.

-George S. Scott playing as Patton

4487678 Wanted to use my own words, but that's exactly my point.

Death korp for ever!!

4487480
But you forget that in dying for the Emperor, they pave the way for another guardsman to get one step forward, and when he dies, the next one gets another step forward. Now multiply that by millions of guardsmen, all uncaring, and you get a steady wall of infantry, constantly moving forward, and while the death toll is horrendous, it is brutally effective. You only have to look at Vraks, a world that would have taken hundreds of years to retake, and yet was taken back in 18 years by the Death Korps, to see that the strategy works.
Maybe it's not ideal to have the sheer amount of dead soldiers who could be killing for the Emperor, but they get results, and when all else fails, they don't.

4490012 True, but wouldn't it be better, if instead of "... and when he dies, the next one gets another step forward", we would have "... and when enemy dies, they take step forward, and then another one, and another."?
Sometimes surviving is not an option, but willingly dying instead of killing chaos is almost heretical.

I suppose, but that doesn't address the fact that Kriegers think of themselves as borderline heretics anyway, thanks to the betrayal. They think the only was to get absolution for their sins is to throw themselves at whatever is a threat, and trying their up most to kill it, even if they have no choice. They don't just lie down and die, they make sure to do what all guardsmen should do. They die standing.

:yay::yay::yay:

Just don't make him too....human.:twilightsheepish:

I like it, keep going.

More, the Inquisition demands more.

A krieg developing personality beyond wanting to rush head first into a machine gun nest? That is something new

I imagine Rhia is gonna be like, "it's adorable!"

And the Kriegsman is just like :ajbemused:

Good to see another chapter, although I wish the updates were quicker.

5297171 callin a xenos "adorable" might be heresy...

moar please! (but take your time:pinkiehappy:)

It's nice to see this story hasn't been abandoned.I am looking forward to future chapters.

Really enjoying the story, cant wait to read more :pinkiehappy: and love how ya mentioned Vraks

Is bawss. And 'oo sex some squig'z 'arder den wunna da boyz?

Could have sworn I commented on this before. But yes, please continue if you have more. This has been pretty interesting so far.

4245304 Hold!
We still need him alive, for the glory of the Emperor. :coolphoto:

Rhia sighed. "I'd like to believe the best of the world."
"Then you are fortunate to be in my company. That belief will get you killed, PDF."

He has such a shiny personality... :ajbemused:

Very nice work. :pinkiehappy:

Loved it so far, keep up the good work.

Understandable about the delays but it's great to see you haven't given up on this story.

Glad its not dead. And so far the two are getting along nicely, can't wait until they run into ponies and the two act differently.

I really should finish this, and I think I shall.

i like this story so far- especially when you have a PDF member like Rhia in it (incidentally... i saw that obscura!).

yeah, there's some true flubs on her knowledge... but the two perspectives could be quite interesting once the ponies get involved.

add warhammer tag...
