That's rather dark.

One bit of feedback, though. Since it is this dark, why have the pony who gets their head torn off be a unknown red-shirt?

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but that moment would have far more impact if you gave just enough info for us to recognizance the pony. Especially if you have it be Cheerlee or any other fan-favorite. :pinkiesick:

Heck, if you want grim-dark levels that rivals the source... Pick one, so to speak:: :scootangel: :unsuresweetie: :applecry:

Whelp, I love it so far!
Pump these out like bolters upon the battlefield!

Kinda funny that the emperor is "pure" yet his methods and his way of thinking are just as fanatical as the very worst of suicide bombers.
I myself have ponderd about this subject a couple of months ago when i was in a REALLY big Warhammer 40K phase, what would happen if the emperor after his Death somehow wound up in Equestria? Or rather, how would it be if he was somehow reborn in Equestria? The opportunities are just endless.
It's nice to see that somebody else have considerd that "what if" situation.

welp Equestria is fucked :pinkiecrazy:

4101078 There is no good or evil in the real world. The Emperor simply doesn't have a shred of chaos in him, therefore the elements deem him pure.

are the elements of harmony more of a shield that defend since it doesn't kill?
I don't blame the emperor for reacting the way he did, think about it in the beginning when humanity was young and naïve believing in prosperity, hope for friends and allies that was torn out by there many variety of intergalactic neighbors and chaos's in the most horrible of ways that it killed and burn most of there trust and hope after so long I don't blame him or his people for not trusting so easy that mistrust and reacting in violence is not born from nothing and the corrupting chaos's and it many forms make things more complicated.

Very good so far! One thing: Malcador is spelled without the H.

4101078
Well his goal is 'pure'. Pure humanity that is :trollestia:
It is kind of weird to describe him as 'fanatical as a suicide bomber'. I mean he doesn't believe in religion and punished worshiping him as a god.
He simply wanted to see his race survive. In the 40k universe everything is at war with everything. There isn't a force in the universe that doesn't want humans torn to meaty little chunks for one reason or another. Some are more deserved than others. Like Tau or Eldar. But when you have Nids, Chaos, DE, Orks, Necrons, Humans themselves. All wanting to see the end of your species. You can't exactly just sit back and hope that things work themselves out.

continue the story, emperor's command it! :flutterrage:

This won't end well...

4100987 Thank you for the suggestion. I will name the deceased next chapter...and a bunch of others.

"One does not see the Emperor of Mankind and not feel awe"

Boromir would have been so proud of you if you had added a simple in that sentence.

Anyway. An awesome read, keep the good work up, and I fav an like this awesomeness of yours. :moustache:

Big E FTW! :moustache:

Ohh Emperor yes! MOAR!

Damn that was fast. :rainbowderp: the emperor would be proud of your fine work:moustache:

Woot! I love a good slaughter! Its been too long since someone went all out and wrote one.... Please good sir, more.

Though I hope the rest of the mane six haven't died yet in the slaughter. I'd rather read of their reactions first. Perhaps they find dead siblings in the sea of bodies (big mac had to have rushed in).

This is... Extra Heretical.

Report to your morale officer for immediate termination.

I want to see where this is going...

He's back! This time, we get to see the Big E kill things in all his glory( anything to the contrary is heresy)

One small thing: The Emperor had always known about the Warp, and the daemons. He was born from the ancient Earth Shamans to protect humanity from the disturbances they felt in the Warp. Also, he wished to abolish religions because he knew that belief and worship fueled the powers of the Dark Gods. You mentioned something about only a decade.

Hmm, interesting... :trixieshiftleft:

:ajbemused: I don't get this at all. What is this?

Ahem. HOW DARE YOU DEFILE HIS NAME, HERETIC?! *BLAM*

4102320 Thank you for your feedback. You are correct. I have addressed the error. Thank you for your aid.

Bloodshed is delicious.

Hope this story isn't a complete bloodbath, as non stop gore and little else can get dull.

You'd have to learn about War hammer 40k in order to understand this. Our writer here needs a crossover tag.

4102699 War hammer 40k? Nope. Tell me about it.

4102708 here's a video explaining the basics

4102907 Hmm. :applejackunsure: I see. But I nee more info about it.

4102925 Describing all of 40K would take a story in itself. Maybe this might be of help

4102925
There's a youtube channel called "Vaults of Terra" that does a fairly good job of explaining the lore of 40k as well

What will he do if he meets Discord?

4102907 The ponies should be given this video as their only source of mankind...

4101098 That's....a VERY good Point.

4101284 WEhen i described him as a "fanatical suicede bomber" I only meant that his dedication to his cause is about as strong....and fanatical, not the blowing themselves up part, and minus the whole beliving in a god deal.

I agree that his mindset is sorta justified taking into consideration that as you said that countless factors want's humanity gone, but i do finfd it kinda strange that the emperor would generalise and pull ALL aliens over one edge, humanity did have several Alien allies in the golde age, sure they should be careful of who they befriend but atleast give other species a chance Before you start screaming "Xeno" and starts chopping off heads.

I have tried getting an idea of the Emperors personality by Reading as much WH 40k info related to him as i could, but they only describe his actions, not personal quirks and such, so it is hard to know if this is in character for the emperor or not.
That aside, ALL THOSE POOR PONIES!!!! Somebody give that golden plated bully a beat down and a big o'l slice of humble pie!!

I do not understand what the attraction to this series is. I've been told numerous times that it's a cool series and have tried reading crossover fanfictions to see if I might get into it, but they're all basically carbon copies of this in one way or another. Blood, killing, blood blood, killing, no plot beyond excessive gore and killing and black-and-black morality.

I don't get it. I'm legit trying to understand why people are into this series and if I might join in. I've discovered a ton of new things to enjoy just by reading crossover fanfiction as a jumping-off point. But every time I read it, all it is is characters dying in increasingly juvenile and gory ways. Is that really all there is to this series? What's the attraction? I seriously don't get it.

4104109 Instead of reading crossovers on Fimfiction to see if you like Warhammer 40,000, why don't you go to the Warhammer 40,000 wiki site and see what it is all about?

4103223 He would kill Discord violently.

4104109 40k is a great series but fanfiction probably isn't the best route to get introduced to it. While yes the series involves a lot of grimdark elements (brutal combat, dire situations, and last stands) the thing that I have always enjoyed about 40k was the violence but the stories of heroes who emerge during such a terrible time. The warriors who are ultimately idealistic and usually wrong, but who fight to make that terrible universe a little better. Uriel the Ultramarine, Talos the Nightlord (in his own twisted), Cane, the FIrst and Only, and so on.

The issue with fanfiction is many fanfic writers for 40k are not usually...meh how to put it nicely....lore friendly? True, 40k has kinda gone back and forth on a lot of details, its own fluff included, so I am just to be as likely wrong as the next guy. However as an example found in this very fanfiction right here: I don't seem to recall the Emperor being this genocidal to aliens. True he lead the Imperium that makes anything not human their enemy but for a long time in the fluff it was always implied that the Imperium had fallen very far below the Emperor's expectations- yes, the Emperor would call for wars to kill off orks and I'm sure the 'nids if he meet them, but on a whole the Emperor always sounded neutral to Eldar, unless they attacked first. In fact, and this probably isn't cannon anymore, but I recall the Emperor had a friendly rivalry with some big Eldar farseer: Ulthrand or something; a big name I feel bad for forgetting but vanilla Eldar are my least favorite faction.

4104109 If you do want to get into 40K, I recommend Ciaphas Cain, Gaunt's Ghosts, and a few of the Horus Heresy series (I haven't really delved into them all that much, but I know some are pretty good). If you're a videogame-type, Dawn of War and Space Marine are good. Or, if there's a game shop near where you live, just look around and peruse through one of the codices they have, but avoid anything written by Matt Ward, especially if it's space marines of some kind (I've heard neutral to positive things about his necrons).

Really, the selling point for me on 40K is partially I get to paint up a nice big army of little plastic dudes and imagine what it's like to chainsaw some other plastic dudes' faces in, and also that the lore (convoluted as it is- I'm pretty sure I violated it several times in my own 40K fic) is friggin' enormous. It's broad enough that you get multiple powerful characters roaming around fighting wars that would make WWII look like a child's tantrum, and it's flexible enough that you can create your own personal band of badasses and have them go out on adventures, battling monsters and stuff and basically living out a bunch of sci-fi fantasies, and it would completely fit in the setting without violating canon. What I think many 40K writers miss is that it's not all about the KILL MAIM BURN!ing, it's about the adventure. It's about your dudes, and you can make your story whatever you want, be it heroic epic or comical romp (those do exist; one campaign in Dawn of War II is about a space ork pirate and his krew battling the nasties of the universe to win a hat).

4104440 You mean Eldrad? Yeah, I think he and the Emperor kind of had a friendly enemy thing going on.
Although Eldrad's a dick, so there's no telling just what he has in mind

4104440 As I recall he was genocidal if provoked. If an alien species provided even the slightest hint they would be an obstacle or hostile to humanity ruling the galaxy he would order them exterminated. The Emperor believed humanity was the purest form of life in the galaxy.

You're referring to Eldrad. As I recall Eldrad began hating humanity after a betrayal by one of the Fallen SM chapters. I can't remember which Primarch, but Eldrad had met with him to warn him of Horus' future treachery. But the Primarch had fallen to Chaos already. The Primarch and his chapter then attempted to kill Eldrad and all those that were with him. Eldrad would escape, barely. The Primarch then ordered a whole shit load of virus bombs be dropped on Maiden Worlds. This (IIRC) was what turned the Eldar against humanity.
4104109
The game appeals to people for different reason. My brother loves playing SMs for the heroic aspect. The glorious super soldiers protecting humanity from all sides against various threats.

On a more personal note, I prefer 40k’s darker setting. It’s nice to have a universe that doesn’t follow the general happy settings. 40k is a universe where the puppy won’t always survive. Where just because the cause may be just, doesn’t mean evil isn’t there to kill you. I mean think about all the sci-fi you read, and how most of the time it ends all happy. Look at the book Dead Men Walking. A peaceful mining world discovers weird artifacts while mining rare minerals. It is revealed that the world is actually a Necron Tomb World.

It then covers the Death Korps of Krieg as they fight to try and liberate the planet. In the traditional fantasy/sci-fi world, what would happen? The good guys kill the aliens and liberate the planet. Maybe the good guys slow down the aliens and allow the majority of the civilians to escape on their transports.

In 40k? Nope. The Death Korps weren’t prepared to be fighting such a battle. The final battle in which they planned to use the books main protagonist as a suicide bomber to try and blow up the enemy's monolithic base fails.

The Death Korps realize everything is lost; so they pack up all their weapons, artillery, infantry, vehicles and leave. The only civilians they take are the governor’s family (well his daughter, the Governor himself was executed for unauthorized vox use in trying to find his daughter) and some other aristocrats. They leave tens of millions of civilians on a planet being destroyed by a bunch of soulless machines. Why? Because the world is lost. Space and resources would be wasted taking a bunch of useless civvies.

The niche 40k fills is having everything cranked up to 11. Having a whole bunch of badass shit going down. Massive battles with stupid powerful weapons. Black humor, interesting settings and ideas. And having it just set up as a giant grim-dark clusterfuck. Why focus on some happy farmer on some agriworld when you can just focus on a massive galaxy where there is only war?

If you want to do some reading, go to TPB and download a bunch of codecies, grab the Imperial Armor books (I love the Siege of Vraks books). Maybe also read the Only War rule books, those have some pretty cool information.

4104997 The Primarch that attacked Eldrad is Fulgrim. Fulgrim had become...warped by a daemonically possessed blade, which told him that the Eldar were lying. He murdered the Eldar in droves, thus setting up a long-standing hatred of humanity among the arrogant space elves.

4105005 Thanks. I'm too lazy to go over to my bookshelf and start thumbing through codecies looking for the answer.
And I should probably take offense to that. I play Eldar . . . but then I also play IG and Chaos and Dark Angels. . .
