Sunset reflects on a rather dark time in her life after she finds her old leather jacket cleaning out her closet.

Written for Sunset's birthday, or more specifically, today, the day Equestria Girls first came out five years ago.

This story is a sequel to Long Road to Friendship

It is a new year for Sunset Shimmer; a fresh chance at real happiness with her five best friends and her girlfriend. But Sunset is constantly troubled by her uncertain future, and haunted by the consequences of her past.

For her battle against Princess Twilight has drawn forth ancient forces with eyes on the last bastion of magic: Canterlot City.

As darkness closes in, Sunset must find her light and guide her friends to defend their world against old rivals and legends best left forgotten, all while dealing with their ever-looming futures.

But when graduation comes, what will Sunset Shimmer do? For she is still a stranger in this world, with or without her friends, and the road before her guarantees nothing.

Of course, with the universe conspiring against her, it'll be a miracle if she even makes it that far...

Yet, no cage or lock is unbreakable and some locks can't be so easily fixed once broken...

After putting on the Element of Magic, Sunset Shimmer was shown just how much of a monster she really is. But that wasn't all the Elements did to her.

Sunset has now been forced to serve penance by answering any question truthfully and by doing anything asked of her, whether she wants to or not.

And she really doesn't want to.

Until all of the hatred in her heart is gone, Sunset is at the whim of her peers, unbeknownst to them of course. Can her new "friends" help her down the road to redemption?

If not, there's always that other Twilight Sparkle she keeps running into.

However, when Twilight offers to make their costumes look more realistic, they get more than they bargain for when they actually transform into their costumes! Now, Sunset is the most brilliant unicorn wizard in existence, Rarity and Applejack have switched perspectives, Pinkie has become psychotic (in a bad way), Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash are sporting fangs and fur, and Twilight must keep her alter-ego from reasserting itself! Can Sunset and Twilight reverse the spell before midnight when the spell becomes permanent and they all remain trapped in their altered forms forever?

Written because of my own temper and sense of righteousness has fouled my thoughts before. Written because we can see the truth of things even through our anger. And written because I'd like to believe that individuals can think beyond the baying of the mob.

With a single post, just a handful of pictures from her phone, Anon-A-Miss managed to destroy months of effort to redeem herself. Even her actions at the Battle of the Bands seem to mean nothing in the face of this apparant treachery.

But when the Rainbooms confront Sunset, about her sudden betrayal and cast her out, she gives a response none of them had anticipated.

After Fluttershy's first appearance on Shimmercode, her return became a highly anticipated event for the stream's audience. But no one anticipated what would actually happen.

Rated Teen for questionable dialogue in multiple senses and video game footage that might merit a stricter rating from the ESRB. No rating-escalating bodily fluids of any kind are shed by actual EqG characters.

Sunset’s world ended, and she almost lost herself to the darkness that followed. But with Fluttershy’s love and friendship, she managed to survive. Months later, Sunset is in therapy and making strides to reclaim some of her old life. However, there’s still a shadow that swirls in her heart, a shadow that she believes can only be lifted by visiting Twilight’s grave.
