Princess Twilight Sparkle has recently returned from a diplomatic mission to Gryphonstone. While she has gone beyond the borders of Equestria many times in the past, this is her first official state visit as a princess.

As a way of celebrating her success Princess Celestia hosts a tea party, during which the other monarchs of Equestria share stories about diplomatic blunders. These include Cadance's bout with Saddle Arabian purity laws, Luna's near beheading, and Celestia's ordeal with limes.

Written for Aragon's Comedy (Is Serious Business) Contest under the prompt, we learned something political.

Sex tag is for sexual language/references and not actual sex, death tag is for mentions of death, and dark tag is because it does get a lil dark here and there.

Now with a Russian Translation!

Oh hey, this fic got featured on Episode 210 of Pony 411. That's kinda super cool.

"That said, Luna's story is hysterical, and there's some great sexual and relationship comedy in here. Worth it, on the whole." - PresentPerfect, Recommended for Laughs, Febuary 28th

Celestia has had many friends in her lifetime, with just as many falling outs and arguments as one would suspect to occur in those bonds that simply never stay. Most of the time, she parts ways peacefully with those she has argued with. Other times, she must view the aged ponies she loved on their deathbed and the immortal goddess must offer her farewell.

This is not one of those times.

Sombra's takeover took everyone in the Crystal Empire by surprise. No one saw it coming, none were prepared for it, and almost no one got away. Almost.

A few hooffuls of daring souls managed to break out of the city and flee southwards, towards Equestria. Some ran to beg the Princesses for aid, others - just to save themselves and their families from the mad tyrant.

But as the refugees are about to learn, it's the dead of winter outside the Empire's shield, and the crystal ponies are far too used to their warm life in the city. One filly that gets separated from her parents while trying to get away learns that fact all too painfully...

In the world of Equus, harmony reigns supreme—even the very spirit of Chaos bows before it. But this peace wasn't always the norm, nor were the powerful mages who survived through the ages always benevolent.

During the time of civil unrest between the three pony races, the unicorns feared starvation if they went to war with the earth ponies. In desperation, they sought a way to harvest magic from the earth ponies themselves. They began resurrecting the bodies of the earth ponies they'd slain, forcing them to grow food even in death.

When the earth ponies discovered what was being done to their fallen loved ones, the resulting wars were among the bloodiest ever recorded. The unicorns, rather than retreat, doubled down—using the reanimated earth ponies as weapons of war.

Horrified, the two Alicorns decreed an absolute ban on necromancy. Since that time, for over two thousand years, no one has dared attempt such magic.

That is, until a young filly accidentally perfected the forbidden art. After her younger brother drowned beneath a frozen lake, she managed to do the impossible—return his soul from beyond. Fearing punishment, she fled into the wilderness, where she survived for ten years, quietly raising the dead and slowly gaining infamy.

Now, with her legend growing, even the Elements themselves are hunting her.
