After the siege of Bastion City and the theft of the power of sunlight, Spike takes on Prince Terrato's offer to train under the kirin, Seethe Scale. He must travel to the Western Barrier Land to gain the strength to help his friends.

Once there, however, Spike soon realizes that there is more for him to contend with in this harsh environment than developing his abilities.

Times are dark when the land is ripped apart by the disappearance of the sisters. Everypony seems to be out for themselves. Even the mane six have split to form their own houses. Equestria is Divided, and needs hope again, but who will that be?

It's Twilight Sparkle's coronation day. She's ready to go, all dolled up by Rarity, and the three Princesses await her okay on the spell. She nods. Their horns light, and a deep warmth spreads through her. She closes her eyes.

"Nn- Twilight!"

Her eyes open. Spike, running towards her. His claw brushes the magical aura surrounding her. A roll of thunder echoes, and he is thrown against the wall. The magic surrounding her rises in turmoil, battering and burning, and it's all she can do to stay awake. It ends with a snap, dropping her to the plush ground in a heap. The Princesses are crying, Spike is unconscious, and Twilight... Twilight is no longer a petty Unicorn.

But she's not much of an Alicorn either.

When showing her latest pet project to her friends, a malfunction causes Fluttershy to see glimpses of an entirely new world with endless possibilities. Seeking an escape from her day-to-day frustrations, she uses ENEIGHAC as a gateway to the Digital World, where she can vent her anger without doing any real harm. But is the Digital World really just a simulation?

Shortly thereafter, a group of human children known as the Digi-Destined learn of a new threat to the Digital World's safety. A powerful digimon know as Vespimon, who seeks to continue what Ken started as the Digimon Emperor...

The curious unicorn Sparkle yearns to breach the surface to discover its many wonders and to search for her missing father and brother, both of whom crossed over many years ago. She is forbidden to leave the safety of her subterranean village of Unicornia until she discovers an orange earth pony washed up on the shores of an underground river. That pony bears one of the six Elements fabled to change the world.

While nobody had really known what a proper coronation ceremony was supposed to look like, it was pretty easy to tell this was not it. At the very least, the room looking like someone had exploded a purple feather pillow was a pretty bad sign.
