Orchid Mantis, a changeling, has come to the Crystal Empire, hoping to retire in peace. However, a terrible curse set by King Sombra as revenge for his defeat threatens the city, summoning monsters to raze everything to the ground... and only the power of love can stop them. The changeling, being able to tap into that power at will, has been drafted to help fight these monsters when they appear...

However, for a dedicated martial artist, defeating monsters is easy. For a changeling, raising a child is a much greater challenge. And building a meaningful relationship? Harder still...

College is basically an adult kindergarten, one where depressed teachers try to uphold some semblance of order in their classes full of drunk, disorderly, or just plain stupid students (and you use the term 'students' extremely loosely) that are only there because their rich parents want their brain-dead children to have some sort of higher education. Either that or sports scholarships. Goddamn sports scholarships.

When your best friend leaves for greener pastures over in Equestria, you start dreading who will take his place as your roommate. Naturally, it happens to be an Equestrian that takes his place—and you're put in charge of making sure she feels at home.

Author's Note: Sorry to have not posted anything in so long; I've been meaning to stop by for a long while, but never found the time.

I've just come by to say that I'm cancelling this story, or at the very least putting it on hiatus. I kinda tried jumping the gun with this story, and was trying to write it as I went with only a vague general idea of what I wanted to do. I kept bumping into problems and holes in my story and in my ideas, so I'm stopping work on this to work on a different story. I plan to keep the general idea similar, of a human getting dragged into a battle he wasn't meant to fight; however, there are many changes that I want to make to points in the story.

Once again, I'd like to apologize to anyone who's been patiently waiting for some kind of update or sign. I'll keep this story online until I feel comfortable enough to start posting the revised story.

After a mistake in battle causes Flash to question his abilities as a soldier, Captain Shining Armour reassigns him to castle guard duty in Canterlot.
During the captain’s royal wedding, Flash catches a glimpse of a purple unicorn mare. Months later, fate steps in and he meets her properly for the first time. When they start dating, it seems he had finally made a right decision… until Flash finds out who her older brother is.

Spike & Discord have happily been ruling the Chimera Kingdom for years & their son Draco is 5 years old now. While raising a child & running an empire are rewarding, it can also be tiring. So the trio decides to take a break & spend some time away. Where would three magical royal beings go on vacation? Ponyville of course!
