Everypony has issues. The Princess of Love has her subject's, her husband's, her's and worst of all, a king-sized case of PTSD from giving in to the evil that helped King Sombra conquer an Empire. Banishing him yet a second time was bad, the detox wasn't pleasant either, but the worst is living with the knowledge you let your husband, your subjects and worst of all, yourself down. No, the worst is that the only pony that can help her now is King Sombra. Being trapped in a cave with him and her husband keeping him at hooves's-length isn't going to get this resolved anytime soon. After the chaotic debacle in the Crystal Empire, and a week's respite, Twilight secrets Sombra away to his new home in the Everfree Forest. The Castle of the Two Sisters is vacant, decrepit, dark. It's the perfect place to hide the former tyrant.

While she plans to continue her tutelage under her new friend, however, a metaphorical wrench is thrown into said plans when Ponyville makes a new and sudden addition to its town guard.

What would you do if all you were capable of doing is shattering dreams and bringing despair?
What would you do if you woke up one day, with only blurred memories mingled with pure darkness?
What could you do if you could only ask yourself these questions, What am I....who am I?

The Bearers of the Elements of Harmony failed to stop Sombra in time from getting into the Crystal Empire and acquiring the Crystal Heart. Now the Crystal Empire is ruled over by a tyrannical unicorn, that will stop at nothing to get what he wants.

Equestria is on the brink of war, and the only ones who can stop the evil king of the Crystal Empire, are six mares. Those six mares are the Element Bearers, but can they use the elements while one of their own is missing and in fact within their enemy's grasp?

Discord discovers that he has feelings for the Princess of friendship, but he also discovers that something is missing. Sombra is still alive and resides in the Crystal Empire under the watchful eye of Cadence. Chrysalis is still out in the open but has lost her changeling army. Luna is getting strange and peculiar dreams, and Celestia goes missing So what does this all mean? When paths cross and fate has other plans then destiny, Twilight and Luna find themselves in new light of things, with darker consequences.
Things are not always as they seem. Secrets must be kept. Sacrifices must be made, and things will soon fall apart.

Twilight does her best to reform King Sombra, but things don’t go exactly as planned.

With the exception of a thousand moons being ruled over by King Sombra, the Crystal Empire has always been a peaceful place. A place of harmony, love, and laughter. But out beyond the Crystal heart's borderline are the ravages of the Frozen North. A cold wasteland where no pony would survive...

Except for an entire empire of them.

The Kingdom of the Frozen North: Where everything is about survival. There is no love except the love of surviving, and there is no laughter until you know you're going to live a little bit longer. It's an empire cold to its core. And empire cut of from Equestria because of that.

When Obsidian Gem, just a normal Crystal pony, happens to get pony-napped by The Kingdom of the Frozen North, questions are asked more than are solved. But maybe...just maybe...with the help of a newfound friend, maybe he can finally reunite the two Kingdoms.

A silent grouchy pony is found by Princess Cadance and Shining Armor in the snow outside the Crystal Empire. He refuses to reveal his identity and doesn't say why he climbed the small mountain he was found on top of, but deep in his mind the pony has a very unwanted guest who has his own designs for both the Crystal Empire and the Royal Couple.

The prince and the princess know they must stop their enemy, but it might come at a terrible cost. The possessed pony's life.
