Though the events of Discord are behind them, Twilight still thinks about the spirit of disharmony. Thoughts kept to herself, she realizes that some of the things she does remind her of him...and how she DOES miss him. Thoughts kept to herself, hiding it from her friends and even the princess, Twilight wonders what could have been if they never had turned Discord into stone. Would he still have been trouble? Would he have been someone able to be compatible with in time? Even Twilight wonders if his cotton candy clouds were actually as delicious as they seemed! Set in Next of Kin to Chaos, post-Deja Q in Star Trek TNG, fourth season MLP. Twilight's ascended to become an alicorn, but none of her friends have. Discord once promised Celestia he wouldn't do anything to change that status. But when you're billions of years old, the idea of the first friend you believe you ever had dying within a century is unbearable. And Discord doesn't always keep his promises.

Discord. He may think his 'pranks' are harmless, but they are a nuisance. Especially lately! After his latest prank, Twilight insists that he's gone too far. He promises to cut back, but with a catch: he get's to unleash one final grand prank, but only against her. Twilight Sparkle. She obviously finds it suspicious, but she is so fed up with him that she hastily agrees.

Despite their supposed massive power, Alicorns have done a rather poor job of saving the day. Twilight discovers that there's an actual reason for that.

Many have attempted to understand who and what he exactly is, and have come up short every time. One thing is certain, everyone's glad there's only one of him.

When a mysterious door opens up in the middle of town and Discord seems deathly afraid of its mere presence, it's up to Twilight Sparkle to help the reformed spirit of chaos do the one thing he could never do alone: Face peer pressure and social conformity. And tea.

Twilight wakes up in an unknown place and attempts to find her way out while trying to find out what happened to her friends.

Twilight Sparkle, pulling another late night, is finally confronted about by Spike and Starlight Glimmer. She reveals that she's been studying one of the realities she saw, specifically the one seemingly ruled by Flim and Flam. She just can't figure out how those two con artists could be as much of a threat as, say, Tirek or Nightmare Moon.

And then Discord shows up, telling her that she's looking at her information wrong. He volunteers to show Twilight, Spike, and Starlight what that reality is really like...
