Five years. Five years have passed since Cheerilee chose to quit as a teacher. She had thought that life was behind her, but finds herself drawn back in, compelled to help her former students through their teenage years.

She will discover more about both them and herself then she thought possible.

Carrying more emotional baggage than her students, she will find that the journey to self-forgiveness, while not an easy one, is not one that can be ignored.

Cheerilee gets a new student because of a new law that the government created. Her new student just so happens to be one Pinkie Pie. Cheerilee has a task ahead of her: Teach the pink mare enough for her to be a "functioning member of society" and help her keep her job in Sugarcube Corner. Difficulties aside, Pinkie is going to have one busy time catching up.

Princess Celestia, tired of the constant pressure that ruling a nation puts on her, decides to take a day off and let Luna take her responsibilities for a day, something the younger alicorn is more than happy to do. She disguises herself as a pink maned pegasus pony named Sunny Skies and decides to go walking around Canterlot without any supervision. Unfortunately for her, not all parts of Canterlot are as safe as the palace, and she finds herself at the wrong end of a gang of muggers, who decide to kidnap her for a ransom when they see how much money she has on her.

Luna freaks out.

Due to an accident in class, Cheerilee's class finds out three things: Cheerilee has a ticket to the Grand Galloping Gala, Cheerilee can bring a guest with her, and she doesn't have a very Special Somepony. Watch what happens when her class tries to fix those last two things.

It's been eighty-nine days since the Day of Darkness, and Twilight Sparkle is still on her own. Eighty-nine days since she talked to anyone other than herself. Regardless of how lonely she feels, she prefers the company of herself to the vicious "lurkers", as she calls them, roaming around outside of her library. Whatever friendly, loving creatures they were before the Day of Darkness, something changed them. Something created these insane creatures, and nothing, not even Twilight, can stop them. All Twilight can do is live — live to fight another day.
