But is it already too late, or will Luna be able to take the role she had so long dreamed of? The dream of being a mother?

My entry for the Equestria Daily Writers Training Grounds for May 2nd. The prompt was "Spike has eaten the book of Inspiration Manifestation. It has some side effects..." - which was come up with by none other than my good friend Servant Phoenix! Since it was a prompt by him, and I loved the episode, I couldn't resist giving this a try.

The cover art was the only picture I could find of Spike as a Unicorn. Spike in this story is a little more grown-up looking than that. Older than a colt, but not quite a stallion. I decided that because even though he's a baby dragon, he was born when Twilight was a filly, so he should only be a few years behind her as far as pony aging is concerned.

I hope you like it, I didn't have as much time to work on it throughout the week as I had hoped.

Twilight and her friends all get together for a sleepover, looking forward to some well deserved downtime. Discord arrives, standing outside in the rain, pleading for entrance and to come in out of the weather. Twilight Sparkle insists that this is a mares only sleepover, so Discord does the only thing he can do, doing the unthinkable to gain entry.

Once inside, Discord, now Eris, tries to bond with the mane six and learn the magic of friendship.

1000 years of unrest and unhappiness under the reign of Discord.
That's all there is to describe what happened in that time period in the Canterlot archives.
However, Discord himself is just the tip of the iceberg.

Before the being known as Discord came to be, a cold war between Ponykind and Diamond dogs took place after they teamed up to defeat a common enemy : the Changelings.

The Holy Royal family of ponykind, settled in the City of Crystals hidden up in the north, guides and protects the people of their kingdom all the way down to the Everfree Forest.
The Strong Emperor of the Diamond Dogs rules upon the southern portion of the continent up to that same forest, which has remained ,through all conflicts, a neutral territory.

Other than their brutality and mercilessness in combat, not much is known about the Diamond dogs. They turned down all offers of discussing a peace treaty with the Holy King of Ponykind. The cooperation to beat the changeling threat happened purely by coincidence, according to the military officials. After that, an unofficial time of peace took place, allowing both civilizations to replenish themselves from the past battles, but the threat of a new series of bloody battles is still very real.

Thought Flare, a young colt unicorn living in Canterlot at that time period, grows up to see the society he lives in, in a much different light than anyone else, and he doesn't like what he sees. As his name indicates, he gets big ideas, but they tend to be of the flaming type, metaphorically, but literally as well. Because of this, Thought Flare will witness and accomplish things that will bring the books to have more than "1000 years" worth of blank pages.

Persistent pesky powerful pony Princess pursues perturbed pretty purple pupil.

Alliteration is the least of Twilight's problems.

Life in the Crystal Empire is sure nice. And stable. And the same every single day. Cadence is almost bored to tears when an old enemy comes calling, and her entire life is thrown into chaos again.

How will Cadence manage when Chrysalis shows up on her doorstep begging for help? Especially when her husband seems intent on helping the monster who tried to steal him away not too long ago.

"Suppose I killed them all?"

At what should have been a routine doctor's visit, Applejack learns that she can never bear foals of her own. After an emotional breakdown, her friends do their best to calm her.

However, as the discussion develops, nopony is prepared for Twilight's revelation: the grand event which brought them together has left a hidden scar within each of them.

Tempers flare, relationships are strained, and the strength of their friendship is tested as each must come to terms with her newfound sterility.
