Once upon a time, Spike went for a walk.

While on his walk, he was judged by an ancient alicorn, lodged with griffons, parlayed with air pirates, charmed a maiden of a mystical race, and dealt with the scourges of hate, fear, and racism while deliberately drawing the armies of myriad nations to the brink of global war.

Once upon a time, Spike went for a walk, and did all of this so that he could keep a promise to the one that meant the most to him... Twilight Sparkle.

In the first of three books, Pillars of the Sun (Chapters 1-15), Spike is devastated by Twilight's fate and grows more and more despondent as he attempts to understand what has happened to his dearest friend. A gentle nudge from a pony he trusts sends him looking for answers. When that nudge becomes a push he unravels ancient secrets... and risks losing himself before his attempt to rescue Twilight can even begin.

Twilight and Applejack are engaged. Life seems wonderful... yet Applejack doubts. Twilight seems happy, but she's so busy everywhere but Sweet Apple Acres. Two ponies are stuck in their own worlds, or at least that's how it seems to Applejack. When Twilight is called away from the harvest for an important political summit in Canterlot, Applejack decides in her loneliness that the only way to bridge the gap she fears is forming is to head off into a world of magic and intrigue after her favorite unicorn. She will place herself as a seal on Twilight's heart, come hell or high water.

When something is taken, it leaves a space. This is basic physics, it’s how the world works; the bigger the object the bigger the space it leaves. When something is the foundation, the framework on which everything else is built, the whole structure will come crashing down, leaving nothing but rubble and dust. When something is taken from a pony, she must come to terms with what it is she has lost and what it is she has gained. Rainbow Dash must now find something new, a new foundation on which to build herself, a daunting task if faced alone. Can she resurrect her oldest friendship when she needs it the most?

So this is it; the story I wrote to celebrate my one year Fimfiction anniversary. Huge thanks to AppleDashFan123 for proof reading and generally giving great advice. Twilight Sparkle has been keeping a secret from Applejack for a while now. She has had a crush on the farm mare for a long time now and has finally found the courage to attempt to ask her friend out on a date or at the very least admit her feelings toward her. Will Applejack accept her feelings and return them with open arms? Or will she reject the love from one of her closest friends? Whatever she does the path of honesty cannot be lead astray.

However is Twilight the only pony in town who has grown attached to Applejack? Or has someone else seen something inside the mare, something worthy of love?

This is a realistic view on how shipping would actually happen in the show. Almost every pony has been shipped with everypony else, but this is what would actually happen if two ponies ever attempted at a relationship.

Flight School is where it started for her. An infatuation with Rainbow Dash that Fluttershy would carry for seven years, eight months and fifteen days (not that she's been counting). All she has to do is tell Rainbow Dash how she feels, and, really, its not as if its a daunting task.

A familiar Captain of the Guard finds himself dredged out of the ocean and into the dubious company of totally-not-pirates.

He doesn't remember who he is, and he's not entirely sure he likes the looks the all-mare crew is giving him. Cadence is certainly not going to be happy about that when she catches up with him.

He might have been better off in the water after all.
