Astral Ink, the Royal Scribe assigned Princess Luna, was relaxing in his quarters when he was then visited by Raven Inkwell. A few disagreements here and there eventually lead to some uncomfortable revelations that may put Astral's position in Canterlot in jeopardy. All leading up to an unexpected visitor to appear to give some advice and a few personal thoughts that push the scribe in the right direction once again.

A (sorta) vent fic that covers topics such as stress, procrastination and self doubt over one's abilities that may be a denial over laziness.
Romance tag is for small bits of romance are sprinkled within that might lead to a sequel fic if the story is received well enough.

Sunset Shimmer has returned from the Mirror Universe in order to work with her friend and mentor, Princess Twilight Sparkle, now the Ruler of Equestria, on a personal project, only to be waylaid by the announcement that her other friend, Starlight Glimmer, is soon to give birth. What a happy occasion!

However, not all is as it seems. And when the newborn foal bears more than a striking resemblance to a certain Alicorn, the very fate of the universe will hinge upon the greatest sacrifice a mother can be called upon to make.

And in the end, is one child's happiness worth the entire world?

None of this would’ve happened if Princess Celestia had made me an alicorn, like I deserve! I, Sunset Shimmer, should’ve been a princess!

Instead, I had to flee through that portal and now find myself in this unfamiliar dimension. No princesses, no ponies, and no magic. How am I going to live like this?

But it’s alright. I won’t stay here for long. I’m just here to bid my time until I rise to power. Then, I’ll finally overthrow Celestia and take my rightful place as ruler of Equestria!

But until then, I must learn how to survive in this new world.
