After a year of incarceration, Sombra was free and ready to take his revenge on Princess Celestia when, against his better judgement, spared her life and fled. He then aided her and Equestria's heroes in freeing Twilight Sparkle from the influence of Nightmare Moon, though he experienced his own trial during that time. Now once again on the run, Sombra is questioning his purpose in this brave new world. What is next for Sombra now that he finds his life is changing? Will he change as well?

Soon, Twilight is transformed into Midnight Sparkle, self-proclaimed Queen of Magic and sets off to conquer Equestria for herself. Applejack is a hard-working and persistent young cowgirl who also dreams of becoming a Pokémon Master, and getting enough money for her family. She is the Chosen Bearer of Honesty.

Fluttershy is a shy yet very kind-hearted young girl who dreams of becoming a Pokémon Breeder, and she is the Chosen Bearer of Kindness.

Pinkie Pie is a fun-loving and chipper young girl who dreams of becoming a Pokémon Performer and opening her own bakery with her Pokémon. She is the Chosen Bearer of Laughter.

Rarity is a prim and proper young girl with a sense of fashion who also dreams of becoming a Pokémon Performer. She is the Chosen Bearer of Generosity.

Sunset Shimmer is a young girl with a troubled past who dreams of becoming a Pokémon Researcher and to find redemption and freedom from the mistakes that she had made before. She is the Chosen Bearer of Forgiveness.

And Starlight Glimmer is an orphaned young girl who also dreams of becoming a Top Coordinator and to find her family, remembering that they only gave her up because they loved her. She is the Chosen Bearer of Understanding.

Together, these eight girls will begin to kindle a friendship that could be the only hope to save Equestria in the near future.

King Sombra, the dark sorcerer and former ruler of the Crystal Empire, has been defeated by Twilight Sparkle and the other bearers of the Elements of Harmony, leaving him stripped of his magic and imprisoned deep below the surface of Canterlot Castle. There, he waits for his chance to take revenge against Princess Celestia and conquer Equestria, though his affection for both his long-lost daughter and the mare that he loves have him question everything that he knows. Can the shadow-pony learn forgiveness and mercy or will he let his deep-seated anger and desire for vengeance consume him?

After his violent defeat, the former tyrant King Sombra has managed to claw his way back from the land of the dead and has returned to Equestria to seek revenge on Princess Celestia and the Elements of Harmony. However, the Emperor of Darkness is no fool. He knows that he cannot simply seek retribution on the Main Six or the Princess of Day, so he waits, gathering intel on his foes, learning of their weaknesses. When the time is right, he will strike. This story is a sequel to Shattering a Heart of Darkness

After returning to the side of good and banishing a threat to Equestria, Sombra is dealing with new changes, both physically and emotionally. He is now dating Twilight Sparkle and has moved to Ponyville with hopes of a fresh start. What kind of wacky adventures can the former Shadow King get into?

Equestria falls more and more into the dark king's control as Twilight Sparkle hastily forces herself into plan after plan. Soon coming to the conclusion she would have to take matters into her own hooves and meet him face to face, even if it costs her life.
