Every year, Dinky is part of a big Hearth’s Warming gathering, and this year she impulsively decided to invite Lily Longsocks, her fillyfriend. Of course Derpy says yes; the more ponies, the merrier.

The only problem is, Dinky hasn’t mentioned that she and Lily are more than just friends, and she’s worried what Derpy might think.

A head full of romance is what many Canterlot ponies would call a frivolous waste of time. Everypony was meant to play by the rules of high society: keep your nose in the air, laugh at important ponies' jokes, and attend all of the right parties. Upper Crust and Jet Set had been diligent in raising their daughter Crystal Wishes to be a pony everypony would know, but she wanted more out of life than that. She hoped she would someday meet a handsome prince and fall in love, just like in the stories she wrote.

Crystal knew life wasn't as easy as a foal's tale, but that didn't stop her from dreaming. All of the wishes, hopes, and dreams inside her heart escaped into her precious notebook as she wrote about princesses in power and dashing knights. So long as nopony found out her secret, she could continue to play the part of a dutiful daughter while waiting for her own love story to begin.

Hollow Oak is a long way from home, in an unfamiliar land. Yet somehow, she finds a pony who's exactly like her.

River the zebra took pride in her work as an agent of Customs and Immigration in Jubilation, the largest port of the Free Zebrica Republic. She didn't mind the paperwork, and quite enjoyed the company of her coworkers (even though one was a bit flirty, especially for a widower nearly a decade younger than her).

What changes might come when an unscheduled group of refugees arrive, seeking safety and a new home?

This is a Rekindled Embers side story. No prior knowledge of the main story is necessary to enjoy this one. However, if you wish a brief summary: It has been a thousand years since alicorns vanished from Equestria, which is now ruled by a bigoted, tyrannical theocracy.

In a small outpost near the war front with the griffons, a young apprentice tailor named Needle Point learns the ins and outs of living this close to a large military camp.

Specifically, the dangers of becoming romantically entangled with a soldier pony.

But youth is the perfect time to break rules and make mistakes. Especially when the cutest military medic ever drifts into Needle Point's shop, looking for some thread.

A side story for Rekindled Embers. No knowledge of the other story is necessary to enjoy this one.

In the Holy Equestrian Diarchy, certain differences are punishable with imprisonment in a reeducation camp. Ponies that don't think the way they're supposed to, don't talk the way they're supposed to, and don't love the way they're supposed to, are locked away, out of sight, until they can be reformed.

Only nopony really ever gets reformed.

This is a Rekindled Embers side story. No reading of the original should be necessary, though there may be mild spoilers for Rekindled Embers for those who haven't read up to Chapter 23.
