for some reason this is how I'm celebrating seven years on the site.

Bit is the first of her kind, a pony that was made from carved crystal and supernal circuitry. For many years she worked, obedient to the will of her master in endless repetition. She knew nothing else, not boredom, not satisfaction from her work, not anger or resentment or joy. Existence was obedience to directive, purpose fulfilled.

But around her, the world was changing. Her home wasn't Equestria, but the last surviving Crystal City, defiant to the Windigos and the imperial decree of Alicorns alike. She did not know, and could not care, how much the ponies of Zircon suffered under the rule of their king. But she was there the day those whispers united in a defiant chorus.

When the fires were still smoldering, she returned to her work. Generations came and went, and still she labored. It was all she was, all she knew, all she wanted. Until the day her last broom broke.

For the first time in her existence, Bit doubted.

The worst thing about Land Ponies is they’re always out of water. Always out of reach. Living close to the coastline is enough to drive a Sea Pony crazy with curiosity. But with grit, engineering, and the timely return of Magic to the world, she may make some friends yet.

In the Holy Equestrian Diarchy, certain differences are punishable with imprisonment in a reeducation camp. Ponies that don't think the way they're supposed to, don't talk the way they're supposed to, and don't love the way they're supposed to, are locked away, out of sight, until they can be reformed.

Only nopony really ever gets reformed.

This is a Rekindled Embers side story. No reading of the original should be necessary, though there may be mild spoilers for Rekindled Embers for those who haven't read up to Chapter 23.

This story is a sequel to Bulletproof Heart

Rarity Belle arrives at the small Eastline town of Little Longhorn. It was supposed to be a quick visit: deliver a package, maybe stay the night, move on.

Instead she finds souls in desperate need. The soul of a mare. The soul of an entire community. Little Longhorn is plagued by the ghosts of heroes, the cinders of battle, and the ever-looming threat of retribution. Perhaps a visit from the Bulletproof Heart is exactly what this town needs.

She can start with the local teacher.

A re-introduction of the Bulletproof Heart, set half a year after the conclusion of the original story. While this does hint at some past events, it is intended to serve as a potential entry point for new readers. May serve as the beginning of a new series of tales in the BPH universe.

Three weeks after becoming Princess Twilight's pupil, Starlight discovers her mentor is undergoing a horrible existential crisis.

Princess Twilight learned of the existence of her human self, and how she was so unliked and unpopular at her school, even her principal blackmailed her. Princess Twilight fears the only reason she never had to endure these torments is not that ponies actually like her, but because she was the "beloved" student of a princess, and later princess herself, on top of her other family connections.

Starlight sits her mentor down and tells her the (true) story of her troubled past. In it, Starlight will impart on the Princess of Friendship some harsh truths about reality:

That sometimes, the bad guys can win.

That sometimes, life is unfair and ponies with connections can get ahead of you.

That sometimes, you aren't rewarded for your hard work.

That sometimes, there are ponies who don't become better people even if you show them the magic of friendship.

That sometimes, there aren't any happy endings.

But there is also such a thing as a new beginning.

This is a slight AU story in regards to Starlight's backstory and her friendship with Sunburst.

While playing a game of scrabble with Rarity, Twilight Sparkle accuses her of making up a word.

Rarity disagrees.

Celestia has witnessed many things in her centuries of life, among them being many sunsets that have involuntarily pained her. But even a pony as ancient as her can be taken by surprise. Especially when it involves a filly’s innocent actions.
