Anon and Applejack started dating some time ago. Due to a multitude of reasons, they attempted to keep their new relationship low-key and private. Now, they're ready to start taking it a bit more seriously, and that means revealing their feelings for each other to the rest of the Apple family.
However, Applejack has been reluctant to do so, and it's time Anon found out why. According to Apple family tradition, if Anon is to be accepted by the Apples, he must first pass the Apple Screening.

I love this story, I can never get enough of these Anon x Applejack fics. And I could totally see a family like the Apple family having a gauntlet for those who are marrying into them.
To be honest though, I think I would be just a bit resentful towards the family if I was in Anon’s shoes. They had him eat rotten food, then gave him a job that, as far as they knew, he wasn’t even physically capable of doing at all, which resulted in him working without any kind of food or breaks for roughly 12 hours straight, to the point that he literally passed out at the end of it all. Even Applejack was completely despondent thinking he wasn’t going to be able to do it. I’d really feel like I was just being set up to fail, especially if my girlfriend was so upset about the final test being what it was.
And seeing as he collapsed from exhaustion at the end of it, he very easily could have passed out during the night while he was working, been injured, and have no one around to help. I can’t even imagine how heartbroken AJ would’ve been if Anon had slipped from the ladder during his fatigued stupor while working, hit his head, then been laid out for god knows how many hours until they all woke up to find him unconscious and bleeding from the head in the orchard. Even putting aside the fact he’s likely going to be too sore and weak to work for at least a week, they’re lucky he didn’t end up needing a hospital trip.
Frankly, if I was in Applejack’s position, needless to say I’d really have an earful for my family members for making my potential fiance do something so needlessly dangerous and self-destructive, especially when they so easily could have gotten seriously hurt and or sick from it.
All in all, this was an adorable story and I wish so much that there were more stories like it. I just like to imagine Applejack gave her family a good chewing out afterwards for being a little too extreme and callous with their treatment of Anon, and that Anon got a few weeks of paid time off for his trouble.
Applebloom's part was hilarious 😂 I love it but I feel bad for him too. And the ending was sweet.
