Nocturnal Reverie

Just a socially awkward potato that can't go one day without writing something.

Rainbow Dash didn’t know she’d be on the precipice of the biggest change in her life when she nonchalantly agreed to help Pinkie Pie. Throw a party, make a lot of foals happy, go home. That was the plan.

So…why does she keep going back? Why does home…feel so empty?

Unable to shake the one foal that refuses to leave her head, Rainbow Dash is ready to jump into the greatest change—and greatest challenge—of her life.

And that, my friends, is only the beginning.

How are this Scootaloo's wings? Could she fly, in theory? (Obviously it wouldn't be practical... in fact, I could see her having been medically pinioned, cause if she just flew off without any way to navigate it could be very dangerous...)

I am so glad I saw this. I am following this and NO ONE CAN STOP ME!

I'm going to be so well-fed from all the love in this story...

I'm glad you saw this, too! Happy you enjoyed the first chapter!
Yes, there will be plenty of love to go around!

That'll actually come up in probably the next chapter. If not that one, then definitely the third. The short answer is no; but anything more than that would be spoilers, so...:scootangel:

This is really good so far! :pinkiehappy: I wonder if Rainbow will adopt her?

good start to this, can't wait for more

"If"? Ridiculous, the question is "when?"

This is an incredibly sweet story. I admit I was a bit taken aback when the little filly was revealed to be Scootaloo; I have a habit of not reading the character tags when I'm truly interested in a story, so I missed it. So it seemed to be a bit of a stretch and a rather hamfisted attempt at provoking emotion to have her as both deaf and blind.

At first.

Then as I kept reading, I truly felt empathy for the precious little filly. Her reactions were quite believable and endearing, as were Rainbow's. I will be watching for the updates, and as a writer myself, I know your time is limited, and interest in writing waxes and wanes. So I'll be patient, but know that this story has earned a special place in my heart, and I thank you for writing it.

Thank you! Stick around, and you'll find out soon:twilightsmile:

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!

Thank you so much for your kind review! Yes, one of the things I was worried about was people thinking making Scootaloo deaf-blind was a cheap attempt at stirring emotions. Thank you so much for letting me know it was more believable than just that!

As a writer, I'm thrilled when my words are able to evoke emotions in my readers. But as a storyteller, I like to have a solid explanation for everything because I hate it when "just because" is the only reason/explanation viewers are given. That being said, I researched until I had a viable reason for her deaf-blindness before I even posted the first chapter so I wouldn't be scrambling for an excuse later on down the line. Of course, telling you right now would be major spoilers, but I'm so glad you intend to stick around to find out!

Thanks again, everyone!

I can't stop crying it hurts so good

I presume all those Line's are supposed to be breaks in the text?

Same, fam. SAME

Oh wow, I’m so embarrassed. Yes, that’s what those are supposed to be. I write on Google Docs, and got so excited to show you guys the chapter I completely forgot to change them. Whoops! They’ll be fixed momentarily!

I get the feeling Scootaloo's going to have a lot more friends soon enough.

I absolutely can't wait until the rest of the mane 6 figure out what's going on, it's gonna be amazing

That was great! Rainbow is going to be perfect for Scootaloo.

Foggy knew better than to put all her chips on blind optimism–especially when it came to a foal like Scootaloo.

Boo. Boo I say. :trollestia:

Full honesty: I didn’t even realize I wrote that:rainbowlaugh:
My hands took over and my brain was like: “Eh, seems legit,” and kept right on goin’!

Thank you! Glad you enjoy!

I have the rough draft of that scene written already, and it gives me a good chuckle:twilightsmile:

Thank you! Yes she is!

I love this, I'm excited to read the next chapter. Thank you for this.

*semi-evil laugh* There’s gonna be more where that came from.

Thank you for your kind review!

I cannot put into words how much I love this story. I shall be awaiting updates with bated breath.

Goddamn how do you make Scootaloo cuter than she already was?

Liked, Followed, and eagerly awaiting the next chapter.

Thank you so much! Glad you’re enjoying it so far!

I ask myself the same thing, honestly LOL

Aw, thank you!!

Thank you! Hope you enjoy the next chapter!

You warm my heart and bring tears to my eyes

Do I spy a story with high-word-count chapters?!

Rainbow and Scootaloo are even closer to being together! :scootangel:I hope Rainbow's house passes inspection!

You bastard. You almost made me tear up.

Only one other story has ever done that.

Screw you and your fantastic writing. I can't wait to see Scootaloo's reaction to being adopted. And to Rainbow's friends. Will she interact with Sweetie and Applebloom?

Ye! I thought these chapters would be fairly short, but then the plot took over and suddenly they were both about 10K. :rainbowlaugh:

*squee* No, you!

:twilightsheepish: Aww, thank you!!!

*semi-evil laugh* Challenge accepted!

And thank you so much for the lovely compliment! :fluttercry::heart:

It's only been one chapter, yet I fear I may soon perish of diabetes. :rainbowkiss:

I actually wrote an oneshot about what I think would have happened to those babies and read another one that was similiar!

I died from the emotional diabetes when the story flew through my head, was revived by the need to write it, and I am now publishing this story as a zombie with only my desire to share this sugary overload with a receptive audience keeping me animated.

Glad you enjoy the story so far!!

Ooh, really?! I’d love to read it!! What was your own personal conclusion?

Oh god this is torture for my grinch like heart, all these feels hurt. Hurt so good :rainbowlaugh:

yeeeessss we close to the happy time.

I don't think I've ever read a story that could so thoroughly destroy my emotional state. The simultaneous influx of raw, unfiltered adorable mixed with pervasive use of that 'Sad' tag and the unrelenting tension of an adoption we know will happen but hasn't yet is akin to precise application of an industrial blender on poor, unsuspecting ingredients!

Thank you. This is a really good story.

One of the best stories on Fimfiction. You show many of Rainbow Dash's strengths and weaknesses. All of the characters feel realistic.
If the evaluator says no to Rainbow adopting Scootaloo I'm gonna cry.:fluttercry:

I have been idly observing this story to see whether or not it would be abandoned like most scootadopt central stories i fancy on this site.

Glad to see this is not only going to continue for a while, but having read it, is accurately written to how the characters would react in the show.

Also, the image of them all being either Anthro ponies or humans with slight pony traits and the Sign Language substitute being similar to what it is now but more like a series of shapes and Braille patterns traced and tapped out on the individual being talked to or a translator is more adorable than it should be.

There maybe a little more to the deafness. One of my ears is missing all of the middle ear bones and I have "profond deafness" in the ear.
But every case is different, mine was not at birth.

Rainbow did the Bast thing. She showed that Scootaloo comes 1st.

*blink... blink-blink*

Where's the "Next" button?
Where's the "Next" button gone!?!?

Jesus Christ I'm glad I decided to read this.

I'm going to go get some insulin or metformin, but damn is this sweet.

You're killing me here, you know that? ;_;
