You will have to explain what all this mumbo jumbo that not even Pinkie Pie or Discord combined could make sense of to me.

Cause I don't get any of it. Besides Celestia is dead and Twilight is somehow Luna's student now.

Hey! So, I'm aware this one is quite vague and doesn't exactly state what's going on outright. Honestly it was initially a lot less clear than this before editing :twilightblush:

Chronologically, Celestia dies, crying out the phrase 'my maths' which Twilight initially interprets as non-lucid gibberish. It starts to get hotter and Twilight returns to Canterlot to speak to Luna. Her theory which is confirmed is that the sun is getting closer to Equestia. Luna confirms this is correct, and the only thing she can tell Twilight is that 'they've gone feral'. Twilight realises Celestia was in fact realising the last movement of the sun she had performed to keep it rotating was wrong due to a mathematical error, hence 'my maths' cried out in horror.
As hinted by Twilight's proof of principle experiments, the princesses and sun and moon were in a four way enchantment which collapsed when Celestia died. Luna can no longer move the moon or sun, they're moving on their own i.e. gone feral.
Twilight is working to try and fix this while monitoring how much closer the sun is getting.

If you are interested, give it a re-read now you know this as things are stated as clues more than outright stating them. I wouldn't write like this all the time but was interested in trying something that plays a lot more in subtext and clues

This started out confusing, but after the reply you sent earlier it started to make more sense. I reread it, and that's when it was really, really good. Nice work!

It's perfect.

That is all.

"My maths!" she choked, her voice a strangled parody of its former serenity. Then Celestia died. It was abrupt and without ceremony. To her credit, Luna had the strength to stretch a wing around me, the pony in that room who had lost less, when I started to cry.

This is a dramatic story but this made me laugh so hard

They are trying too hard to save a failing system. They either need to leave equus or move it.

I love clues, making deciphering their timeline and dilemma very enjoyable~ It reminds me of many Twilight Zone episodes because of the way they kept the twist veiled but hinted at throughout. Plus one episode literally about the Earth drifting towards the Sun... Which isn't how gravitational mechanics work at all... but you get a free pass since Equestria is fantastical and who knows what its cosmology looks like~

But a question... if changlings predated the Sisters then the four-body system didn't always exist... So how did the celestial bodies remain stable previously? Or should I be asking what destabilized it?

I wish there was more. A true ending and finality as it were. Still going into my favorites though
