CrackedInkWell

"Inspiration does not come to the lazy. It only comes to those who call it." - P. I. Tchaikovsky

E

Once upon a time, in the land of Equestria, there was once a Princess of Friendship who loved magic and literature. One day, she got a note from a friend from the human world to investigate a collection of books that had adsorbed some Equestrian magic and asked her to study them.

Thanks to an accident, those books were sent out to her friends who after discovering the books, fainted, and woke up the next day believing they are the very characters from those books.

So it is up to Twilight and Spike to figure out how to bring the real minds of their friends back before they forget who they really are forever.

This is just a fun, experimental piece where I take the original books from: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum; Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll; Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie; Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl; The Arabian Nights translated by Sir Richard F. Burton; Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales by the Brother's Grimm; and Mary Poppins by P. L. Travers - take certain characters out of those books, and into the bodies of our favorite Equestrians.

HAHAHAHAHAHHA OMG I'M DYING....! POOR MR. AND MRS. CAKE...! XDDD :rainbowlaugh:

Blueblood in a dress!? Oh, this is too much for me. I also pity Mary Poppins now. :rainbowlaugh:

Hey! Blueblood's actually competent in the story! That's a shocker!:rainbowlaugh:

7145337 Still keep in mind, I'm rewriting this thing, so anything goes from this point onward.

AJ in The Land of Oz... Whelp, there'll be several differences in the story now. Especially considering her earth pony strength and lassoing skills.

For some reason I have always loved all the different interpretation of Blueblood's character because of how controversial he is in the fandom. from foal eating monster, to a completely self-centered jerk that cares only for himself, to a dedicated civil servant that always hast to be weary of those how courting him, to a recreate agent how has saved Equestria many times over hiding under the guise of a pompous aristocrat and everything in between. I this case being a nanny to two children is going to be a daunting task to him as I suppose that he knows nothing about how to deal with children and in his world that demand perfect order all the time he will quickly turn to drinking before the week is out. I am curious to know but does BB sees himself as he human woman or as himself in a dress? and are all the other character are human or in ponies shape? I hope it's the lather over the former in both cases. I am not big on the idea that the ponies that have been pulled in the story have some part of the memories character that they embody ans I feel that it sort of ruins the fun in envisioning how the ponies would react in their places. sure I would suppose that they might retain some of their muscle memory, but changing parts of their memory... not really.

Oh I remember this scene. Great memories.:moustache:

:facehoof:Tink, don't do something rash.

7160446 If you read the book or seen the play, you know what happens to her. But since I'm rewriting this thing, I think we'll get back to that soon.

I think you did a good job with Pinkie in this chapter.

I liked that the fourth wall wasn't completely broken, but I can see why Pinkie's paired up with Mr. Wonka.

Oh, I love that tale!:raritystarry:
Seems the roles have switched from wife to husband. I like this version.:scootangel:
Is it possible for the stories in the dreams to continue cause I wanna see the end.

7181651 I'm think so too, that in-between the chapters I would do these kinds of stories to check on what everyone else is doing and what's going on. Like Blueblood filling in the roll of Mary Poppins for instance...

7181670 Yay! I want that to happen.:scootangel:

I feel so sorry for Mary Poppins since she's in Blueblood's body.

Mary, I feel sorry for you. You deserved better than Blueblood.:facehoof:

Oh crap, are they only repeating the most prominent scenes?:twilightoops:

So, Shining is Hansel now. Now that I think about it, how many books did Twilight bring to study?

7213620 Seven in total. Cinderella, along with Hansel and Gretel are part of the collection from the Brothers Grimm.

7213633 Does this mean that Cinderella and Hansel and Gretel are in the same universe?

7213642 You know, I never really considered it. Since the book itself was, according to the "official story," the Brothers Grimm went around Germany writing down fairy tales from several sources from nannies to folk legends. Even if they were all part of the same world, it might be unlikely for either Celestia or Shining to meet up if they are bound to certain places. So to sum it up... I really don't know.

Oh god, how will this go on and end? I really don't have any idea how they're going to revert to normal.:twilightoops:

I figured they lived in the same country. Now, what's this about a famine...

7236350 Technically the Grimm's Fairy Tales were collected in modern day Germany, but I never said all the stories took place at the same time.

In this twisted world of Wonderland,
There is nary a place where you can stand
Without tumbling and bumbling into a tizzy,
It makes you absolutely dizzy!
The quickest way to travel to this world of surprise,
All it takes is a simple leap, I surmise
Just remember to land right,
As the fall is a great height
Strange creatures, left and right, up and down
Oh my, is that one wearing a gown?
In this twisted world of Wonderland,
I wonder, will you find it grand?

I feel so accomplished. Cam up with that in under 5 mins.:scootangel:

The ultimate question: Is anything really real?
*suspense music* DUN DUN DUN!:pinkiecrazy:

But that was easy... A little too easy. *narrows eyes* What are you planning...?

7259176 Frankly the "cure" to the whole thing is a little too easy indeed. Now to ask yourself the real question: How many of them are willing to go back?

7259189 Honestly, to list off: Mr. Wonka might, Mary Poppins probably, Alice maybe, Dorothy probably, and Peter more than likely. Not sure that Cinderella, and whoever Rarity is supposed to be (I cannot remember her name- it's too damning long and confusing. Xo) will want to though.
Course just speculating, I could be wrong.

Well, the story is much better then its last version I like it that BB RD Shy AJ are keeping busy on their own With BB keeping an eye on the foals or rather RD sense he is the most unruly of the bunch. I really liked the parts where the character are stuck in their respected story especially those of Celestia, Blueblood and Shining witch showed really showed how weird and desperate their situation are. All does I am a bit disappointed that it was do easy to get Shining Armor out of his story, I was hopping that he would try his best to change the outcome of the story every time and I would have imagine that despite not having any blood relation with Gretel that he would care for her as if she was his sister. I wander how Rainbow Dash is doing with the kids and see how she will fair with Hook.

Sorry for not commenting on your story sooner, I was having a very difficult time in my new batcheler apartment.

7260187 Thank you for the comment.

For Shining Armor, although his mind isn't stuck in the story, I'm not exactly done with him or Cadence as of yet. After all, just because they know what the solution is, doesn't mean that things are going to get easier from here.

*popcorn halfway to mouth* HEY! OKAY, WHO KEEPS PRESSING THE REPEAT BUTTON?!
*crickets*
DAMN IT! I sorely lack any knowledge of Peter Pan...:fluttershysad:

Why didn't y'all ask in the first place? I've always got ideas!:scootangel:

-All of them show resistance to going back; Alice bc Wonderland madness and Queen of Hearts, Dorothy bc Wicked Witch of the West, Mr. Wonka bc of the new possibilities in his new body, Schiz-whatever (I still can't remember her name =~=) bc y'know the whole death by dawn thing, Mary Poppins bc of the unruly children that obviously need her care in this world, Peter bc of the 'injustice' of the foals in Equestria, and Cinderella for reasons already stated. They all escape when asked to go back, and end up in the Everfree together. Low and behold, the crazy shenanigans occur with close calls each time. As more and more attacks happen to the storybook group, they start to realize that the happy ever after in their stories are actually better than facing the dangers in Equestria.

-Some, like Peter, Mary Poppins, and Mr. Wonka, are more or less okay about going back, Alice and Dorothy don't want to face the craziness in their stories, and whoever-Rarity-is-supposed-to-be and Cinderella definitely do not want to go back. They are all rounded up into the Friendship Castle. Luna and Twi journey along with the storybook characters when they sleep, but this time, they are shown the happy ending they have if they go back. The former six, upon waking, want to return to their happily ever afters, but Cinderella still questions hers. Luna reaches into her heart though and says that if Cinderella stays, Celestia will be lost forever. Cinderella gives in, and they all lived happily ever after, with a little peek into the stories stating how the storybook group thanks the Equestrians for their help.

I have more ideas but it's 1am here, so I gotta get to bed.:derpytongue2:

"Sweet Apple Archers,” Twilight said.

Silly Twilight, you should know it's Sweet Apple Acres.:trollestia:

7300307 And this folks is why I double check my chapters before posting... Or send 'em off to an editor.:derpytongue2:

7300318 True.
(Don't worry, I don't have one either.:derpytongue2:)

7317267 Believe it or not, I'm actually make this up as I go. But so far, there's not really a clear villain in this story, but Cinderella (Celestia) has made an interesting point if she or any of them ever want to go back. I think that Scheherazade (Rarity) would most likely be against going back, so... maybe she could have an influence on Mary Poppins (Blueblood.)

So, Cindy's gonna help 'em, but she ain't gonna go back. (Yet.)
Alice and Dorothy are playing Wonderland with 2/3 CMC.
And Peter and Mary are in town.
I'm convinced that the kids are gonna be the ones to go back first.

This is a good story so far, a little lost in its directions but at least the naration is well done. if their is to be a main plot to this story then I would ask what started all this story in the beginning? these books came from the human work and were fond Sunset Shimmer how somehow without her regular unicorn magic detected that they were magic and send them th TS for examination and mysteriously spread to other ponies that she knows and trap parts of their minds in the books. I think that this is part of some plot or devices that was used maybe to such soul but they are so warn that they magic isn't as good as it used to be. Or maybe their are stories that are meant to be literally lived out in its entirety for people to live though as a learning experience, to teach them something after going trough the ordeal, with an underline moral or theme that the subject must acknowledge accept afterwards to make them better person or be more confidante in them selves.

Oh snap, they're turning over slowly...:twilightoops:

It would be nice to let the storybook characters mull things over before Twilight reverts 'em back.

7355915 Hmm... CMC, Dorothy Gale, and Alice Liddle... What can I do with these characters before the adults find them?

7355919 Other than being covered in tree sap? I was thinking that Dorothy and Alice would have differing opinions.

What's up, Luna?!
Spike! 'Bout damned time ya' showed up, man!

7376166 I think she's resting from being so sleep deprived.

7376168 Then who else? Don't tell me Cadance. ...Well, eh. *shrug*
