Hmm. Quite a bit of difference in the executions, style, perspective, characters, and tone. Pretty different stories, despite revolving around the same core concept. I wouldn't worry much, if I were you. Just keep writing and see how your work evolves.

It's a bit weird how often that sorta thing happens, eh? I've actually been in a similar position, wherein I was close to finished with a story and someone published a story addressing almost the exact same topic. I was a bit put off at first, but I eventually decided it didn't really matter and published anyway. Even amongst a sea of similar stories, some can stand out if they're done in a different way. And even if not, at least some people who read it might have a good time with it, and that's always a nice thing.

My theory he a male character that threaten alot of ships, hypocrisy on the fandom part, memes and a disturbing amount by of fans who act like jealous boyfriends(the waifu stesler crowd). Also doesn't help he didn't get much development.
