A long time ago, before Luna's transformation into Nightmare moon, a new citizen was welcomed into Equestria. He was no pony, in fact he was something new altogether. He was what was known as a human. The two sisters welcomed him into their nation, and even befriended him. And for a time, they got along great. Until the nightmares started. The human's mind began to be plagued by horrible nightmares, in which his new friends would put him through terrible torture. After a time he began to see these dreams, not as tormented visions, but as a warning. He began to realize that the nightmares weren't there to hurt him, they were there to save him. And so he gave himself over to them. The two sisters tried to reason with him, telling him that he was sick, but he refused to listen. Retreating into the world of nightmares, this human disappeared, and hasn't been seen or heard of for a long, long time. Until now. And he has changed.

There have been many debates among men whether the multi-verse theory is true or not, but there are some who know the truth. Aquila Cuore, an Assassin from the 19th century. He discovered the hard way the truth of this theory, not even knowing it existed yet. After a traumatic event that would've eventually led to his death, he awoke from unconsciousness in a dark void. Redik Dheavan an aspiring wizard from the world of Dominaria found himself in the same predicament after having a rather one sided battle with a mysterious dark wizard. Little did they know, this would change their lives in a mind wrecking way forever.

This is very much a story going under constant evolution by its writer and accomplices. If you feel that you are not patient enough to last until at least half way through the story. Then this is not the story for you.

Aquila Cuore and Redik Dheavan (C): Eagle Heart.

Surrounded by a myriad of talking ponies, can the hardened soldiers come to grips with the innocent nature of the realm they now find themselves in? And what will they do when they discover that all is not well in this naive new world?

(A/N: This story takes place before the events of Gear of War 3, and between seasons 2 and 3 of MLP: Friendship is Magic. I've never read most of the supplemental material for Gears, so forgive me if I get some of the background stuff wrong. I'll do my best to research it/correct myself.)

"And hoarfrost blooms henceforth," she murmered, her icy breath misting and billowing up into the crisp, clear morning air. She gently slid the cold blade across her flesh—and thus let the cold flow into her veins.

The archaic liturgy had been revealed to her by old books, tomes yellow with age that had to be rescued from frost and dried out with flames fed by black oak. Her search for life, she had beleived, was over. And it was; just not in a way that she particularly envisioned.

No, this story is not misanthropic. And, perhaps, I actually shall finish it.

My name is Allen Fersch. My story begins on the last day of my life.
There’s a distinct possibility that every living being has a kind of “quantum immortality” that prevents it from experiencing its own death. At the instant when your body in one parallel universe dies, your consciousness jumps ship to the most similar parallel available where you did not die.
The truck swerved at the last second. The power went out. The gun jammed. You were thrown clear and you thank God the Almighty and all the saints and seraphim that you’re okay.
If you’ve ever been in a near-death situation where your life flashed before your eyes, there’s a good chance you’re not in your original body. That experience of “flashing before your eyes” is the download mechanism kicking in. In some lonely universe somewhere, all your friends and loved ones think you’re dead and your parents keep a picture of you on their mantelpiece, which depresses everyone when they come to visit for the holidays.
So what happens if the mechanism goes wrong? Like any natural process, there are quirks in the system. Some people are born with six toes. Some people have a defective downloader. If somebody you know ever had a near death experience and came out a completely different person, you’re seeing what happens when the escaping soul can’t match the parameters of their original universe closely enough. I shudder to think how many perfectly sane people are locked up in mental asylums because their soul skipped a track or two and now they’re living a timeline meant for someone else.
Sometimes you escape death and you never even realize how close you came, sometimes you escape it and the world around you is different in ways you can’t quite place.
And sometimes… you end up like me: completely off the grid.
