It's the dawn of Hearts and Hooves Day. Like every year, Roseluck is just going to run her shop for the poor stallions and colts that forgot to buy their marefriends a gift, all by herself since her friends even had dates. Maybe after that'd she'd watch some movies by herself like every year. However, unknown to her, plans have changed for this Hearts and Hooves day...

Going through difficult life events is hard enough as it is. Add in the cacophony of ponies constantly reminding you of it, and you've got an even tougher situation on your hooves.

Roseluck knows this from experience, but so does someone else...

The Chaos Rose is a unique flower that only blooms once a year on Hearts and Hooves Day. It is a symbol of unyielding love and affection between ponies and is sought after as one of the greatest and most treasured gifts of the holiday.

So, what will happen when Twilight Sparkle buys one and gives it to Rainbow Dash?

And, more importantly, what will Rainbow do when everypony becomes convinced that Twilight must be in love with her because of it?

Naturally, most would think that having a destiny of good luck would be something wonderful. Who wouldn't love winning every competition? Who wouldn't love never having to worry about finding a job? Who wouldn't love to have everything handed to them without having to work at it?

One pony would beg to differ with this sentiment. Lucky Clover is a colt that has lived such a life, a life that has become more of a curse than a blessing. What once seemed to be great has turned into a nightmare, for being lucky all of the time does not necessarily mean life will be a simple trot in the park. On the contrary, it can present challenges that most would never face.

[A/N] I think I might have seen a story like this before, centered on a pony with perpetual luck, but I've decided to roll with this idea and give a story (with some background) to one of the most under-represented background ponies in this fandom.
