Vinyl Scratch wakes up on Hearts And Hooves Day with plans for the greatest day ever for her and her sweetheart Octavia. But something feels wrong, very wrong. Her sense of foreboding is confirmed when she turns to her horror and sees something she wished she never had to lying next to her in bed.

Vinyl Scratch is feeling hopelessly confused, until she meets Octavia. Vinyl cannot come to terms with the fact that she is in love with somepony, let alone a mare.

The two girls are complete opposites, but their love of one thing above all else sets the basis for an amazing friendship. One that admittedly, hits a lot of potholes, but can always get back on track.

"But seriously, Tavi. Haven't you ever dated anyone? You can still fall in love, can't you?" Lyra asked, unwrapping one of the basket sweets Octavia insisted on sharing with them.
"In theory, yes." She said. "But..."
"Ponies always go too fast for you, don't they?" Octavia agreed with Bon Bon.
"Every time I explained that I'm demiromantic, that I would only feel prepared for deeper intimacy after knowing them, they would never listen. They would try to kiss me on our first date..." Octavia explained, unwrapping her Heart Caramel. "I've tried several times, but that was the outcome of all. I presume I don't have to explain I had to dump them right after that. And they all thought I would love the kiss; that this time, with them, it would be different."

Small choices. Big choices. They all have the potential to completely change your life, for better or worse, whether you want it or not.
Octavia made one such choice when she decided to leave for Manehatten and start making her name there, rather than relying on Canterlot's posh society's respect for a wealthy, influential family name.

When Octavia is tempted by another mare after being ignored by a busy Vinyl, how will she respond... and what will the consequences be?

When Vinyl looses her job as a DJ in Manehatten, she looses everything else with it. With no bits left, she decides to go to Ponyville, a small town far away from everything. Maybe she can start a new career there. When she arrives, she meets her old schoolmate Octavia, and that gives her hope. But as always things go a different way.

Vinyl's finally worked up the courage to tell Octavia how she feels. When she hands the gray mare a brand-new, homemade disc, what's on the last recording?

Octavia lost her chance in the Canterlot Fair, so she leaves to clear her mind. She is able to enjoy herself when she leaves, but now she can't go back. Not yet. She finds a new place that she has vaguely heard of. A town with a certain pony she had seen at the Royal Wedding.

Vinyl Scratch is one of the most successful and talented DJs in all of Equestria.

To the press, she seems like the most resilient person on the planet. However, her personal life is in shambles, she constantly suffers from anxiety and nightmares keep her awake at ridiculous hours.

Does any of this have to do with the lose of sleep that comes with show business? Her lifestyle decisions?

Or is it a whole lot simpler?

Maybe she's just missing her other half... Her significant other.
