Octavia's lived the high life for years. Practice after practice paid off and she's risen through the ranks. Now, she works for the Royal Orchestra itself, toiling every day to produce perfection. Untouchable, practiced, impeccable...lonely.

Vinyl couldn't be any lower. Out of home, out of work, and nowhere to go but to a cold grave. Cast out and left to fend for herself, Vinyl has nothing, not even a friend to call her own.

The two cross paths.

A love story that many have known, and yet different. Both come in broken, beaten down people, their only hope each other.

One night stands are never easy. Someone always gets too attached.

For Vinyl Scratch, today is the day that she will start to come to terms with the echoes of her own past and how they continue to affect her relationship with her marefriend Octavia Melody.

Yo, the name's Vinyl Scratch, and all told, I've got it pretty good.

I do what I love, I love what I do, and what I do is make music that gets ponies pumped. I mean, you've probably seen me around. Truth be told I'm kind of everywhere—from Canterlot to Manehatten—doing fashion shows, clubs, weddings, and at least two royal shindigs post-changeling invasion. Funny thing about that though...

When Vinyl Scratch gets a bit too uppity, her producer, Sound Wave, decides to make it clear that he's in charge of every aspect of her life. Where she goes, what she says, and even who she dates. Octavia just wants to be left out of things, but gets roped in when Wave decides she and Vinyl would make the perfect couple.

Inspired by this story, by which I mean I stole the concept and ran with it. (Technically mature, although the naughty bits are only one paragraph long and clearly labeled as such.)

Vinyl scratch is haunted by the past. Memories of a war half a decade ago still hurt her. She carries on just to stay alive. She no longer wishes to live. With no home and no money, she's given up. But there's somepony who refuses to give up on her.

Vinyl Scratch works hard to be lazy and today, she puts forth a little extra effort to have a perfect day. A double date is proposed: but is she looking for a good time or free labour?
